Default fm transmitter help

As a complete novice concerning electronics I would like to be able to play music from my ipod shuffle on my car stereo. I understand that an fm transmitter is for that purpose but heard the quality of the sound can be compromised(static, for instance). Is there another way besides this transmitter to play my ipod thru the car's system(standard Porsche head unit cr-220 am/fm cass w/6 cd changer in frunk)?

An Fm modulator does work but the audio is only as good as a regular Fm station because that's exactly what its doing. You usually choose a preset station that is not broadcast on.
In the past it was 88.1/88.3/88.5 because nobody ever broadcast there but he new unit allow you to choose throughout the FM band. Problem is while your driving, you could run into an area where a station is broadcasting on the same number or close so you'll get all kinds of crosstalk.

While I'm not totally familiar with the Becker CR-220, it does have a CD changer so there are aftermarket cables that will take the place of your changer like this:

The internet is a wonderful thing sometimes.

Like mentioned above, there may be a cable that connects one end to the oem changer plug, with the other end connecting to your ipod. You might also want to look into the other electronic interfaces that do what you want (ie: usa spec) and a little more.

doesn't your radio have a seek button for scrolling through the stations manually?

You are better off if you can go the auxiliary route. FM has a narrower feq response and dynamic capability, therefore you loose the overall quality as it was recorded. You can buy a kit that allows the 220 to have an aux port.
