Default Home audio speaker question

I have some old Advent speakers that I built into a wall in my basement 10 years ago. I pulled the covers off and the foam ring that connects the cone(?) to the edge has disintegrated. I went on ebay to replace the 10 inch woofers and there are foam ring replacement kits.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-10-INCH-...item5d3d73fc73

Do these work or should I buy new woofers?
TIA

I have successfully refoamed about four speakers and a subwoofer. It's not difficult and I was quite happy with the end result.

Take your time, watch a few youtube videos on how to refoam, and just fix the ones you have.

I just re foamed my Advent Heritages, 4 woofers,
takes about 40 mins for each one, the speakers look like new and sound great.

I used the Ebay vendor Springfield speaker repair they have the best glue ,
they cost a bit more but the parts and glue and instructions are great,
I would send others to buy from them as they have a quality product.

I looked on Ebay for their ad and dont see it ,
you will have to use the link to get their repair kit its free shipping.

I have a pair of JBL L26 Decades that are 30 years old. The subs have been refoamed 3 times and they sound just awesome. Refoam them baby...they don't make subs like those anymore.

I was mortified when all that rubber fell out of them. I gave the cones a gentle push and they move. I guess the process was gradual and since they were being used as rear surround, I did not notice how bad they degraded...Thanks!!!!!

New foam surrounds are fine.
It's foam. All speakers will break down eventually with foam surrounds.
Those with butyl rubber will last more than 3 times

I've used the re-foaming service from Parts Express, excellent results:

They work fine just make sure you get full movement out of them before you allow the glue to dry otherwise it will impact the sound.
