Default Need help decoding vin ? Possible Purchase !

Hi guys,

I've been lurking for the past while here on this forum and its been a a joy to read and collect info. I'm in the process of purchasing my 2nd Porsche turbo. My first being a 997.2 Turbo and i have sold that for an F13 M6 GC. Nice car however, i don't seem to be over my old Porsche turbo experience.

Seeking help in decoding the below VIN (WP0ZZZ99ZES162205)

Thanks guys !!

I tried multiple times using the following decoder: https://rennlist.com/forums/vindecoder.php

works fine for my VIN but I can't bring your info up. I tried multiple times using zeros and letters. Not sure what to tell you.

You won't get any significant info out of the vin as to what options it has. Porsche VINs aren't that detailed anymore. At best you will get manufacture location, engine size (all the same), and some other bits. Dealer should have an option list.

There's a link floating around somewhere that somehow taps into PNA's dealer database and lets you view all of the car's options as ordered and MSRP with the VIN. May not work with a European car, but it's very helpful when shopping in the states.

Edit: Found it and tried it with OP's VIN, didn't work. But here is the link:

admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_sheets/print.php?vin=WP0CB2A83DS132266

You manually insert your VIN and ignore the print dialog box that pops up.

There are never "ohs" in a VIN, only "zeros".

I'd be curious to know how a Euro 997 ended up in Canada... and also proceed very carefully.

Check out VINDECODERZ.com. It's a great free tool that shows you all the build/options details and MSRP.

However, this VIN did not come up. The triple Z's look odd. Most 996 and 997 vin's I've seen have the numbers 299 listed in them, but that might just be coincidence. Good luck.

Triple Z means Euro spec cars or rest of the world car. Seen lots of those back when bunch of 930s were privately imported.

Cool. I'd be interested in seeing if it has any unique euro options or how the original owner spec'd it out.
