How I paid $40 and got myself BT audio in my 997.1TT
I did NOT want to mess with car's stock system, just because I'd rather keep it OEM, so I bought an Aluratek AIS03F 30-Pin Bluetooth Audio Adapter and plugged it into my old 30-pin iPod connector that the previous owner had in the arm-rest area.
I now have a quality BT audio signal and listen to my iPhone tunes/Spotify and navigation at all the time. This cost me $40 and I picked it up at our local computer retail store.

Thanks for the tip! I put a similar device in my old no-tech truck, and it really improved things for shockingly little $

Where did you get the 30 pin to 30 pin cable? Or is that cable hardwired in?

It was hardwired into my car when I bought it. Very clean job so I'm not sure if it's OEM or aftermarket OR how it's wired into my PCM.
Now, initially I did the 30-pin to Lightning adapter which worked for sound fine, however, it unplugged all the time, start the same damn iTunes song, ignore my Spotify unless I opened the app and forced it over iTunes... But more annoyingly it wouldn't charge my iPhone6. What a POS, who would pay for this I thought.
It wasn't until I was bored at home watching car videos and browsing the web learning about 30-pin connectors... I'm a computer guy, so these things excite me, sadly. One thing that stood out to me, was that certain 30-pin connectors supposedly only charged old school Hard-Drive iPods, not even 30-pin iPhones. I think it might have had something to do with 12V vs 5V Voltage change at which point you had these adapters released:
iPod / iPhone Charging Adapter Converter - Convert 12V to 5V
Anyways, after reading that article I thought maybe my 30-pin cord is so ancient that only old 12-Volt iPods would work, so I gave this BT device a try... and voila.

Cool. I'm tempted to copy you. Looks like for the stock pcm 3 iPod connection I'd need one of these cables to connect to the Bluetooth thing: http://m.ebay.com/itm/301142825311
On the other hand, I already have an aux input cable wired to my phone mount, so this would only be for times when the phone stays in my pocket. Maybe not worth it.. Cool though!

thanks for the tip bud!
what i did was get my ipod cable from our other car which didn't really need it (the cable that plugs into the usb and aux at the same time), and used a bluetooth adapter with it...works great! no humming sound while the phone's being charged thru the lighter adapter!

I have a lightning cable hardwired into my PCM 2 system. Installed by a previous owner. I looked for a similar bluetooth receiver that accepts a lightning male cable connection and couldn't find one. The only lightning to 30 pin adapters I could find go the wrong way too (female 30 pin to male lightning). Any ideas?

All I can think of is this adapter converts your cable to 30pin with power (based on description) and that will let you power the BT dongle.

I am just not sure if Lightning BT dongles are out yet.

It's worth a shot for $10, however, it doesn't say anything about charging/power... so if it doesn't convert power then you're probably SOL.

I linked the wrong adapter, here is the right one:
