What does this BBI 997 Turbo accomplish?

First of all, I want to say I love this car. It's absolutely spectacular what the owner/BBI did to this car. I'm a mod freak, and as far as modifying 997.1 Turbo's go, this is the best car I've ever seen. Well done all around including the looks. This is a track car that can be occasionally driven on the street. I love driving on the track.

Leh Keen, a driver I respect a lot, had nothing but praise for its performance on the track.

That being said... why do this when you can just buy a 991 GT3 for the track? I would think a 991 GT3 would still beat this car at the track.

I own a 997.2 Turbo S and would love to do something like a PDK version of this car (instead of sequential) but then I just think to myself.... a 991 GT3 would be better and easier.

Agree? Disagree?

Kinda agree, it's basically a very well done gt2 tribute and then some.
Basically, if you want a turbo, buy a turbo, same goes for gt2/gt3. When you try to make a turbo into a gt2, usually you end up with a frankenturbo, which you'd better love bc the resale is very limited. Money wise, by the time you're done you could probably buy a real gt2 for the same $$. Not sure that applies to this car since its soooooo well done. Jmo of course.

Also what is this traction control system that Leh talks about? I didn't know anyone made a real traction control system for this car.

Motec? Syvecs?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Instead of turning the Turbo into a GT car, why didn't they just start with a GT car?

Guys I've ridden in the car on track, I have a 997RS, I've driven a 991GT3 and 991RS on the track.
This car is faster and handles as well (well better actually with the dampers and suspension setup) as any of them.
It's INSANE fast.
Starting with a GT car... well... that would have increased the build cost at least 50-75k when they ended up changing all the components anyway.

That's why.

On the TC system, I will check, but I think it may be part of the ECU they are using, not sure, I'll find out.

What does a stock 991 GT3/GT3RS on Cup 2's run at that track?

With Leh driving? Probably a 155 in ideal conditions. . Keep in mind the day they filmed there it was 115 or. Track not fast in those conditions. I'd bet on fresh Hoosiers and a 60 degree day he's sub 150 in that car. By comparison I'm a 159 -200 in my 997rs on nittos.

Let's not bring slicks into the discussion.

But do you really think this modded 997 BBI car is 2-3 seconds faster than a 991 GT3? That's definitely saying something. 2-3 seconds is A LOT.
