Water inside the door windows

Water inside the door windows
Hi there,
After rain or washing the car, when I roll down and up the window, water is smeared all over the inside of the window. I don't have any water coming into the car and bottom of the door is dry. So I assume the vapour barrier is working fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Before leaving Porsche's Assembly Plant in Stuttgart, Germany, each car is Deep-Water Interior-Leak Tested (DWILT).
Porsche's unique patented *autohaunglassen system does allow water to bypass the top of door panels as a window is rolled down, but through the use of multiple pressurized bladders and nurtopic sensors prevents any water from entering the interior. When you see water on the interior of your windows after raising and lowering in very wet conditions, but the rest of the interior is dry the *autohaunglassen system is working as engineered. Just wipe the interior glass dry, with the Porsche Valorousup Cloth (PVC) your car came with. Source: Wikipedia.

Ha!!!! My previous 09 997.1 TT and current 12 TTS did/do the same thing as yours... I have learned just not to roll the down for an hour or so...or I'll end up having use the PVC.. Cheers JB

Question is why this is? None of my other vehicles have water on the inside window. There must be a fix. A $100k+ Car shouldn't roll off the assembly line with this issue. I had the door seal replaced and the window adjusted.

I think the answer to your question...that being why. Would probably be that by design of the side window, the window is squeegeed on the outside at a position ABOVE the inner squeegee for the window. Additionally, the window does descend below the outer seal fore and aft of the window center. So if the window is actually wet, when the window reaches the bottom of the outer squeegee, the water can flow over the top of the window and onto the inner squeegee, fore and aft of the center of the side window. Then when the window is rolled up, the water is evident on the inner side of the glass.

I thought I was going crazy. Glad, well, not glad, but its nice to see others have this issue as well. I wipe the windows, then 20 mins later, smeared water stains. almost impossible to see at night but I have learned to dry windows after washing and driving with warm defrost on for a few hours. Small price to pay for the joy of driving my 997.1

Never had that issue and it rains in Florida. I would sell the car. Cut your losses and buy a Hyundai with a 10 year bulletproof warranty. Hyundai never says no to anything.

Normal. Had it on my first 997 and second.

Another thought is to apply some Cquartz cermic coating to the windows. Inside and Out. Doesn't prevent the issue from happening but will turn the smears into droplets that are easier to wipe away.
