Default DME Report that show Over-Revs came up blank?

Hi,

I just had a PPI done on a 997tt that i am looking at and the shop has told me that the dme report showing if there were any over-revs came up blank? The shop is pretty reputable and they used their diagnostic tool a week ago so they don't think that is the issue. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this happening or what might be the cause. thanks

I don't quite understand your question. The repair shop stated there's no over-revs? How many hours on the DME? If the vehicle has 30,000 miles, with 100 hours on the DME and no over-rev's, my BS meter would go haywire

The shop says the rev ranges come up but no hours are showing up. All the told me is that it is blank and they have never seen this before

I was told something similar on a 996tt. Sometimes the tools the indys use don't seem to do it. The dealer had no problem getting it for me.

Could be a couple of things, as stated a lot of Indy equipment may not be able to read it, the ecu may have been replaced (when the 997tt first came out a lot of guys bought backup units to hardwire as it were in pre obd2 port flash days).

Is the car a stick or tip?

My car seems to interact with durametric in a way that can result in this. Basically it can read other values, but the DME report is blank. Total hours showing 0 should be a good indication that you're just not reading things correctly.

The workaround seems to be to select the car I deal with on startup everytime. There's a sequence that works and several that should that don't. I haven't done it in a while.

I do have a smartop installed.

Car is a manual. Shop went over the car and said it was clean. Car was in excellent shape. The car was not throwing any codes and if there was any engine issues caused by overreving the car would have shown signs of that by now. The car is stock so I feel pretty confident with the shops assessment. Thanks again for the all the help

Thanks everyone for all the help, I ended up taking the plunge and getting the car. Haven't had time to really take pics but here is one.
