Default Torque Wrench

Ok... I have a Turbo S with PCCB's and center lock wheels. I felt the pain of owning this car with said setup very recently. I ended up with two screws in my right rear tire and had a HELL of a time finding a repair shop.

Problem solved now, but looking for a good torque wrench that's not $1k plus dollars in a 3/4" X-600 ft/lbs range. I've looked on eBay but most of those either look cheap or beat to ****!!! Any recommendations on a decent quality, not too expensive torque wrench?

Don't skimp on this one. Get the good wrench and look up the exact method of taking off/on the wheels and the proper way to torque them. There has been too many incidents of these wheels falling off.

Teng Tools do decent wrenches for relatively low cost. Recommended.

What brand do you have? I have learned the proper procedure as well... Not much to it, just need proper tools.

I previously had a 2012 Turbo S with centerlocks and have all the tools required--top quality, brand new and still in the packaging. The Torque Wrench is a Precision Instruments Split Beam (made in USA), a 3R Racing hub protector (to protect PCCBs when removing/installing wheel) and a Torque Wrench extender. They were well over $600 all together, but I would sell for $300 and throw in the shipping. Let me know (send a PM) if you are interested. I'm out of town until Sunday, but could ship on Monday.

99Gdzra,

This is a good price and exactly what you need.

Hey Walt, agreed on the above items... I've reached out to him. The reason I'm still looking for a torque wrench is because what I had ordered was/is a pos and don't want to trust it on my car. I just don't want to spend ridiculous money on a tool I'll use only occasionally. Hopefully this one is the style I'm looking for! Ttyl, Buddy.

This is what i have:
http://www.tooltopia.com/precision-i...s-c4d600f.aspx

Works great. Do keep in mind that you also need a breaker bar. I know some people also like the combo: https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Torque-.../dp/B00HDPJF38

Also must have for ceramics: https://www.amazon.com/Torque-Soluti.../dp/B00GOLT618

Casica,

I see you have been suckered into the Center Lock Wheel ridiculous thingy too. All you need is a square that will fit into the locking mechanism allowing you to jiggle it and allow it to spring back into position.
I simply use a Craftsman 1/2 inch Universal Joint drive 4425
http://www.searsoutlet.com/Universal...96&mode=seeAll

My Porsche Tech buddies use a Snap-on version of the same thing.

You can get them on Ebay for about $8-$10 and it doubles as,,,,wait for it,,,,,,, a 1/2 inch Universal Joint Drive.

Interestingly, I started competing against Torque Solutions on Ebay selling the Porsche safety Center lock Craftsman 1/2 inch Universal Joint drive for $30. I was trying to make a point. I advertised it for exactly what it was, a Craftsman tool number 4425 and advertised it for $20 over what anybody could get them for, It was more of an informational post to tell people not to spend $55 for something you probably already had in your tool chest and if not, simply order get the tool off Ebay for $10. I ended up selling 5 of them for $30. It seemed the folks were just not getting my point.

Here they are on Ebay:

Sorry, not sure if I understand. I was talking about the tools you need to fully remove and install a centerlock wheel. I don't think you can do that with a 1/4" swivel head.

Once you've used the torque wrench to install the centerlock nut, then yes- you can use a small square tool to make sure the spring lock has popped into locked position.

I was talking about this:
https://www.amazon.com/Torque-Soluti.../dp/B00GOLT618
At the bottom of your thread.

Certainly not worth $50+.

A 1/2" Craftsman 4425 or other such tool at a fraction of the price.

Oh, that's funny I didn't mean to link that - my bad. I thought that was a centerlock guide to prevent you from scratching the wheel/PCCBs. It didn't even occur to me that someone could've made a tool just to pop the spring lock back .

What I really meant was something like:
http://www.rennline.com/Centerlock-W...fo/T06/DELRIN/

or the 2010+ Porsche Centerlock wheel mount/dis-mount alignment tool here:
http://www.3rauto.com/departments/pa...arts/index.php

Now, whether or not these are worth $350 to you is your call. Myself, I don't have PCCBs and so I didn't get the tool.

I bought the alignment tool. Crazy expensive for what it is but,,,,, if you impact the PCCBs you will be very unhappy. You can find them for around $150 now though.

Default Torque wrench

Here is a good site you can also think about using a torque multiplier. http://www.mcmaster.com/#torque-wrenches/=147evd9
