Twin Turbo toss up..
Hi guys - it's coming up on 2 years since I traded in my 08 TT cab for a 2011 Boxster Spyder. Blasphemy, right? Well not quite as the Spyder is such an incredible car but what this change led into was adding more cars looking for a good daily driver etc... Long story short - I miss the TT for a great P-car to drive daily and I started last night sniffing around a two TT cabs, both in Meteor Grey Metallic, yet of two different generations.
A) 2010 997.2 Meteor Grey over black with PCCBs, PTV, MT, and new Michelin PSSs.
31,900 Kms. Took it out first for a top-down spirited ride and wow, what a car. It seems tighter than my 08 and bamn, does that thing STOP. I know the engine changed to a DFI but was the suspension and steering changed as well? The power surge seems more linear than my 08.
Cool car. Rather plain is some aspects and would want to liven up the interior with yellow or red seat belts, some CF bits etc...
Asking 128,900 CND, Porsche Pre-approved Certifed
B) 2088 997.1 Meteor Grey over full Carrera Red, normal turbo brakes, MT, some odd tires INVO tires (??).
26,451 Kms. Exceptionally clean car and really striking with the contrasting exterior - interior colours.
Took it for a top-down spirited drive and again really enjoyed it. Felt very planted but didn't quite handle as well in my subjective opinions as the 2010.
Didn't stop as dramatically as the 2010 but that would make sense. It's fine on the brakes, just not as BAMN!.
Very cool car as well. Love the colour as my 08 was Arctic Silver over Red. Loved it. This one shows beautifully and really well optioned so not much to modify on it. Steering wheel perhaps and some Michelins.
Asking $99,900 CND. Non Porsche Approved Cert. Not a big deal.
So the two cars are similar, one older but with less miles, powered by the legendary Mezger, modifiable etc... and less expensive. The other a new gen, more power and better brakes, seems to handle better (tires? PTV? Suspension?).
Thoughts anyone? Again, this would be a daily, all weather driver. It seems like quite a jump in price (22.5%) to go up into the .2. Is it worth it?
Thanks in advance guys! It may be time to thin the herd...

Honestly I think you should take more to think about what you want before you trade out of a car yet again that you may regret.
Pricing on both seems high. I'd probably do the 7.1

Quite a difference in price between the 2 cars.
Is the driving experience of the 2010 worth the premium?
Just a heads up. While I have no direct experience with Cab's my info is these cars suffer some serious depreciation. A new Cab owner leaves the dealer just beaming, all smiles. Skip ahead a few years and he's back to trade in the car for a newer model and then the smile is gone as he is hit with the depreciation.
My point in bringing this up is so you are well aware that those prices are I believe quite optimistic.
So whichever car you decide upon I think you can cut a better deal. This then might help your decision.

Cab price drops? I've become a cab guy so I am familiar with the price drops. I love 'em.
P.s. The prices are CND so drop approx. 30%

Hey Zeus! Nice to meet another from Vancouver on here. I purchased my 2009 TT Cab last year and absolutely love it. I'm a bit of a gadget guy and waited for the "right car" for me (newer PCM but the Metzger engine). If I were you, I would opt for the 2010 with the new PCM, PCCB's, etc. You have the pre-approved warranty with that car as well.
Either way, go with what feels right for you. I look forward to meeting you at some of the local meets.

Tell me about your cab - colour? Interior? Options? Europipe exhaust?
A bunch of us are meeting tonight (July 7, 2016) at Caulfield STBX for a C2Sky run and back down to Hugo's for dinner. Available?
I'll have the 993.
P.s. You can't tell anyone I'm snooping around here! LOL!

I wonder if the "tighter" feeling could be due to the dynamic engine mounts? I know it made a big difference on my car when I went with semi-solid mounts. Just a thought, never driven a 997.2. Good luck!

Hey Monty - yes - good to see another Vancouverite on the forum! The 2010 defiantly felt stronger (a bit) and tighter. But more $$$ and the 08 does have the legendary Mezger.
