Default 997 Turbo GT2RS build

Hi guys,

new to the forum but I thought I'd share with you the updates to my car. It's a 2007 997 Turbo.

The first video is basically everything I've done over the last 3 years leading up to this month. And the second is a job I just finished yesterday. The second one is mostly video.

And just completed this job yesterday

Cool project and nicely executed. Great attention to details. Love the transplant of the mobile1 sticker

Well done! Based on what I see, it looks like 100% factory parts.
That must have cost you an arm and leg, but in the long run, cheaper and more accessible than a real GT2RS?!

Thanks gents for the welcome. I have used 95% oem parts. A few carbon items that are not oem were made by DB-Carbon in Germany. But all body panels and all others parts are oem.

Next phase is the front end. I have just bought GT2RS carbon fenders/wings, I have a carbon bonnet/hood and a GT2 front bumper. I'm also doing the centre radiator conversion and inner wheel housings etc. so the entire front end will be exactly the same as the GT2RS.

Car is going in at the end of this month. Very excited!

Yes it's an expensive business. Cost about £25k so far. (So about $40k US)

Looks amazing! I have subscribed to this thread, looking forward to seeing the front end when it's completed. What inspired this project? Great work

Thanks. I always liked the GT2RS but even when I bought my car three years ago I couldn't afford one. And back then they were not a fraction of what they are worth now. Initially I just wanted the wheels on my car but at the time I didn't know you could have a centrelock conversion so I was looking for a replica designed wheel. There were none. Then once I found out I could have the very same wheels I knew I could make my car look the same, and so that's what I started doing.

Three years later the rear cars are now worth £400,000 in the UK. Even if I'd bought one back then I'd be terrified to drive it and would most likely have sold it by now to cash in. This way I get all the looks, most of the performance but with AWD and I'll actually get to enjoy it. I've never seen a GT2RS on the road.

My carbon fenders/wings arrived today. They tried to deliver a few days ago but only one was on the truck so I rejected them. I made a short video of the wings as it's not very often you see them off a car and unpainted.

Are they original parts? Was under the impression that the fender flares are just taped on.

Hi, yes OEM from Porsche. On the GT2RS the carbon fenders were an option. If you didn't opt for them you got winglets as you described; stick on flares but also the fender underneath if different to the Turbo fender for instance.

In the UK all GT2RS cars sold came with these carbon fenders as standard.

Part numbers: 997.044.850.04 Wing Set Carbon

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. So that means you can have slightly wider setup in the front?

This car has winglets

This car has carbon fenders. It's a subtle difference.

Well the GT2RS has 9" wide front wheels so it's already running wider than the standard GT2 which has 8" front wheels. The RS runs wider tyres also, 245/35/19 as opposed to 235/35/19 on the GT2.

I wish I had that kind of money, this looks awesome and in particular I would love to get the front fenders to look that way on mine! Actually, I love the whole damn car!

Gorgeous.
