Default Red Tails

Seller swapped out the original "red tail lights" which were an included option on this car when new. See picture of aftermarket lights. Not sure whose these are. I realize there are various qualities w/ the aftermarket tail lights.

My question is regarding the original "red taillights" and people's impression of them. Not sure I've seen them in person to know whether to ask if I should have these aftermarkets lights swapped out. I won't have the option of getting both sets.

Are the original "read" rear lights the same as the ones in the Suncoast kit:
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PKRED997S.html

Even if the seller won't get me swapped to the original reds, I could pursue the Suncoast kit post-sale.
Thanks for your help. Time's running out on whether to pursue with seller or not.
Cheers and Merry Xmas!

The red tail lights at Suncoast are the OE parts. I have them on my turbo and I love them. I think that they look much better on the car than aftermarket LEDs.

The LEDs look like Sypder / X Tune Power. It sounds like you are not happy with the looks so factory reds are an option. If you want to have a more modern look, you can check out Depo/Dectane LEDs, which are more close in styling to the 997.2 LEDs. They still look aftermarket though.

I have been running smoked spyder lights on my 997.1TT since mid August and they work just fine. The tinting on the lenses is a bit dark for me but I think I prefer that look.

My car came factory with the reds, I like them a lot.
But the dectanes with the smoked center I like even better. I do not think they look aftermarket as they mimic the layout of the /2 lights. Only the outer edge has a different shape which I like better anyway. I kept my reds to be able to change when I feel like.

Zachy, the ones on the car you bought look very aftermarket, if you can, have them change them for OE ones.

That's the first time that I've seen Dectanes with the smoked center. I agree that looks better than the clear/white center, especially on your gray car.

One of the things that I don't like about the Dectanes is the way that they light up, especially for the brake lights. The OE configuration is much better.

The car's paint color is a factor to consider, i.e., an all black car vs.an all red car..

All red oem tail lights are the way to go. No clear, no chrome detail bits inside, just red. They remind me of the CGT lights.

...mine originally came with standard tail lights.
I considered a swap to the OEM red ones (as you can see in the pictures above), but I finally opted for Dectane with transparent center...looks good to me....

This is probably the first thing I would do when I get my car.

@ TT-911 thanks a lot. I changed the stripes layout very recently and I'm quite happy too...
