Default Tiptronic DIY fluid change

Has anybody done this? Any DIYs out there for the turbo?

My car is 8 years old with 16k miles, and I just put a tune on it.

I figured a fluid change wouldn't hurt.

It is doable, but quite a process... and you need to be very careful and specific on temps, amount, and type of fluid.

The Tiptronic is a very fickle piece and susceptible to issues if everything is not done exactly to specs.

Again, it is doable, but must follow a very specific process, and be very careful in the fluid chosen or there will be serious issues. The cost at the dealer to do it, is not that bad, and in this case, may be worth it to avoid the risk.

My dealer changed Sealing rings, filter, fluid (~ 6 liters @ 45/ltr) for $497.37. I also had the front and rear differentials/electro clutch done at the same time.

I am sure someone has done it themselves, and I may have some info...If so I will pots later.

Good luck

Not getting the warm and fuzzy, so I may just let the dealer do it. I've done this on a few cars and getting to temp etc was never an issue.

Was it $500 all in for diffs and transmission??

You know if DC isn't keen to DIY, it's probably for a good reason

I looked into it, and instead got a Mercedes trans specialist to do the work. Was a fair bit cheaper than the dealer and they knew more about the trans.

Hi,

The ~$500 was just the Tip. I think it was about $900-$1000 for everything.

And to be clear, I am not saying it cannot be done as a DIY...It was simply a risk/return decision for me. Those things are expensive and I recall reading the anomalies associated with the levels, temps, type of fluid, and figured I would transfer the risk (and potential cost) to a dealer.

Also agree with NZ on this...If you can find a Mercedes transmission repair facility, it may be cheaper. The Tiptronic is a 100% Mercedes 722.6 tranny built to Porsche specs..
