65HP and over 100 ft lbs of torque based on your 93 octane. Higher with a free flowing exhaust. If you look at the datalog that I posted>> you can see the boost curve.

Can the stock con rods take that much additional torque?

Yes. I have tuned that level in the 996TT without issue. The 997TT rods are beefier vs the 996TT/993 rods..

Kevin, how do you return the car back to the stock tune?
Just in case...
Do you store/send the stock tune back?

If you are selling the car, I will send you the module and load up your original factory tune for a minor fee. However, you can purchase the module/datalogging unit and write the files at anytime.

There are three backups for files. Programming module, my systems backed to disk, and you have a copy when you READ the data from the Programming module prior to emailing it to me.

Lastly, I will work with you guys with the monies and purchase plan for the modules. Just reach out to me and let me know.

I highly recommend that those of you considering "tuning" your turbo's ECU for additional performance speak with Kevin before choosing a vendor.

I recently purchased a "tune" that was optimized for the lovely 91 octane fuel we have access to in CA.
My main goal was safe engine operation under load rather than 600+ HP!!

What did I get?
  • Superb customer service
  • A tune file optimized for my specific application (stock tune was indicating 12 + retard values under load) = danger
  • excellent value for my $$
  • And did I say Superb customer service?

Why go anywhere else?
I honestly feel that Kevin actually cares about his customers, though we are not "just customers".

He is a joy to talk to and work with.
Really.

i'll stop now before i seem like too much of a UMWfanboy..........

Cheers

Craig

data log = information = opportunity for UMW to provide appropriate tune for your application.

I want to do this upgrade so badly that my head hurts. But my car has a warranty and although nothing is likely to explode, if it did I wouldn't be covered.
Such a dilema..

I installed my 93 octane tune yesterday and was able to get about 30 miles on it. The first 10 miles were highway but Kevin suggests a break in period of only 50% throttle for the first 8-10 miles so it was hard to tell much. The second 10 were relatively congested street miles but the final 10 were back on the highway where I was finally able to step on it a bit with some 4th and 5th gear pulls. So far I really like it -- smooth linear power delivery and noticeable power increase. Not surprisingly where you really notice the tune is when you stomp on it. Looking forward to putting more miles on it this weekend.

Just started the process with Kevin for my 2008 Turbo. Looking forward to getting a tune.
In the interim, I'm curious, do any of you see any changes in MPG? (Either up or down)
Not that it's a requirement, more curious if the car is running more efficient with the tune, therefore expect better MPG?

Not familiar with this aspect at all.

I will post as things progress. Waiting on the data logger...

my new fuel map, optimized to keep the engine healthy under boost with 91 octane fuel, provides a slight decrease in mpg.
i consider that a fair trade as compared with detonation issues.

I have the UMW tune and just installed an EP1, wow the car is soooo superior to what it had been.

What did you not like about the Evoms tune?
