I only called 8 suppliers all without stock. The story was the same at each. I gave up after that.

Just for information, my turbos needed replacement and Porsche wanted over $7000 for a new turbo and $5000 for a rebuilt. I went with FVD turbos $2600 each upgraded to 65mm,. You need to provide a rebuildable exchange, but you get better performance and two rebuilt turbos at the same cost as a single rebuilt turbo from Porsche.

I'm glad everything worked out!

I've been lucky to find a Rennlister who had upgraded his turbos and sold his originals to me at a reasonable cost. I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery. Thank you vr6tee.

Thank you to all on this thread for your help and advice.

how do you know if you need a new turbo? WTF 49k miles and it's shot? That's ridiculous.

It was pretty straightforward for me. I lost boost and thus power, a CEL came up and found failure codes associated with a turbo problem. A number here have reported that the vanes for VTG have become stuck and do not extend. Some have been able to clean and lubricate them to continue functioning. I was hoping that I had a similar issue but mine turned out to be worn out once we got it out of the car.

It seems like this must be happening frequently now as it seems that Porsche has scooped up the new OEM stock and if you want a replacement you need to buy a refurb from Porsche at a minimum of $4,000.
