Civil war on the 991 forum

Something about the 991 that really don't attract my attention, but the 991.2 revise front bumper and sport center exhaust look cleaner and I dig the vertical grill from the back view. I think 991.2 look better than 991. I also hate smaller displacement but increase in hp and torque are welcome news. Let's wait and see how the all new 911 coming next year.

997 is already a compromised car- compromised for daily use by making it bigger than necessary. 991 has jumped to grand touring from sports car class. People who buy these cars are not typical 911 buyers- those who get in a 991 are usually shocked at how large the car is now. The intimacy is lacking.
Most 997 owners/buyers love smaller sports cars and would be happy in a 993/964/930. I don't get the same feeling from 991 owners I meet. I guess that's progress for some, but for me, the bloat is undesirable. That makes the GT4 a compelling argument, or god forbid, a Turbo level Cayman offering (I prefer two seaters for sports cars and not the 2+2).
991 Turbo is a great car unto itself but the total package seems to be lacking compared to the 997 and older cars, and for me, it's because of the size and tall center console.

My 997.1TT hits the sweet spot for me and I have no inclination to trade it.

To each his own.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I love most Porsches (though I wasn't a fan of any 996's really).
I'm not a hater of 991 Turbos. LOVE them, couldn't afford one so I got a 997 Turbo instead.
When I saw this at the NYC Auto Show, I thought to myself..."One Day". Maybe and maybe not. Now that I already have my 2012, I doubt I'll have an interest in selling it just to get a 991 Turbo. In a way, it's just too similar.

Had a 991 and loved it... loved the tail light at night especially, and adored the sound of the NA (S) motor... but as mentioned many times before, I didn't care much for the luxury interior that screens GT and Panamera - prefer my 997 a lot more.
The 991 turbo is so massive, it's the size of a midsize sedan. I'll stick with the 997 and maybe pick up an older 911 to play with a bit as a project... if I have some play-money coming in.
Personally I think the new 991 turbo engine utilized in the 991.2 is pretty dope, car looks awesome too... it's just too big for me.

The 991 is a 911, that to me says it all !
Sure, it is a little bigger, the dash is a little too much but overall it is a great 911.
Looking very much forward to 991/2 GTS , 450hp (?) turbo manual 7 speed could get my juices flowing.

despite difference in aesthetics across generations the 991 turbo S is a machine worth marveling at. incredible dynamic performance... near 918 Spyder lap time around Anglesey for 1/5th the price... it's an example of Porsche looking out for the little guy, right?

I have spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel of a couple of different 991s. They are fantastic cars. I hope to own one someday.

Once my 997.2 TT starts to feels tired from miles/usage, I'll look again at the best Porsche I can afford. With my 1987 Cab it went to a 2002 996.2 C4 and that went to a 2012 997.2 TT. Who knows what's next but I haven't been disappointed in ANY 911 I've owned. I do like to get the second iteration (.2) because of any bug fixes and slight enhancements.

I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I mentioned last year my dislike for the 991 interior. I thinks if feels generic and girly. I got flamed for those comments. My knee hits the console when I drive it (my friend has a 991 TT) Awesome performance but I don't feel connected with that car like my 997 TT. No intimacy is well put in my opinion. My dealership has had three TT's in the showroom for months. They are not moving. I see dozens off 991 Carrera's though. Many driven by women. The PDK and the interior would have more appeal for the female buyer. At least they don't want to race me like the male owners do lol!
No doubt the S is an amazing car. Incredibly fast and the handling is superb. I Just think a car with that kind of performance would have an interior to match. Instead of being identical to all other Porsche models.

Yes, I was also attacked, when I stated I prefer the 997 over the 991 back in 2012. It just did not feel like a 911 sitting in it. I also still hate the steering. Some people on these forums think just because it's the latest Porsche it's the best.
