Just pulled the trigger on a 2009 TT
I bought a TT that I like...2009 Ruby Red, 33k miles, one owner, has a CPO, zero over revs in 3-6. Pretty excitied about it, just need to get it shipped to Cali. Been 2-3 weeks since i sold my 991 gt3, the withdrawal was awful. although the new benz c63s that i got is pretty awesome for a DD...two cars for the price of a gt3!
Things that I like are the mezger, 6MT, no CLs, plus the updated PCM.
Nice to be part of this forum

Well, I was a serious track junkie for several years with a 996 2 & 3 then got the Lotus bug. I went to the track w the 991 3 once and i was really teetering if i wanted to get back into full time again, but with the running costs of $500 per day for consumables, not counting brakes etc, i finally decided that my track days are winding down. In terms of the 991, a great car handles tons better than the other GT cars that I had, but i still suspect that the new engine isnt really up to the 9k rpm limit. That aside, I am now leaning towards relative simplicity with the look & tech of a 997...I hated the CLs, like the idea of a MT6, mezger, etc. There will always be faster cars...I want also want a Mac 12c/570, but there is something to be said for the pure driving experience. I could go on and on, but i luv pcars so wanted to stay in the game at some level. GL to all

I feel like tracking/HPDE lasts for 2-3 seasons and if one doesn't graduate to W2W racing then it actually gets boring when you add up the time it takes to get there, pay $500/day just to get in before consumables. I agree with you, keep it simple and the 997.1 turbo 6MT is a modern classic.
I could not agree more. I did HPDE for 2 years, went racing for 7 years and then went back to HPDE due to the sheer cost of racing in terms of money and time. But HPDE after racing gets boring real fast and after numerous track cars that I loved (but hated the track) I got my 2007 997TT. I feel like I have grown up but there is a bit of void not being able to push 100%.

Did racing and DEs heavily a few yrs ago, costs were staggering, wife hated it, much happier with a street 997tt 6mt.
I did a track day at limerock recently after not doing it for three yrs, man I didn't miss it at all.....

Congrats on the purchase! When I was looking I didn't realize the '09 was a somewhat special year and lucked-out in getting a nice one. Super happy and will likely keep it for many years.
All I can say about track stuff is...I wish it were only $500/day. I'm still deeply hooked but I'm down to 4-6 events a year though from a peak of ~15 full weekend events in some past years. It has gotten to be a formidable commitment of time and money on top of the blood, sweat and tears entailed in running an extensively modified aircooled vintage car.
