We do not have any plans to make locking bolts.

To those with expensive wheels, how is everyone sleeping at night without a locking bolt?

When I'm sleeping my cars in my garage and I sleep just fine. My cars also insured.

Seriously, where do you live or where do you park your car that has you so worried? If I lived somewhere where I was worried about my Porsche I would probably spend less money on my cars and invest more of my money into my current living arrangements.

Wow, you don't even deserve a reply.

A locking bolt may give you a sense of security but it won't deter a determined wheel thief - if he wants the wheels, he will know how to defeat the lock.

I'm in line with CPais.

My car is locked in a garage at night,.. and if I'm going to a rotten part of town (And I do that,.. I'm from Detroit),.. I wouldn't be driving the TT anyways.

And of course, the car is insured.

Locking bolts are a mess. I take them off any car that has them.

Wheel thieves have special sockets that allow them to remove most locking bolts fairly easily. They're a bit like a female easy-out. On the end of a battery powered impact gun,.. it hardly slows them down.

Was an Innocent question guys.

Totally agree that pros will take what they want and when. But it's the weekend warriors that look for easy targets. I live in a great part of the city, have a garage and insured. But, I still don't leave my radar, dash cam, etc. out for prying eyes. The hassles of replacing goods or sustaining other damage, such as, getting your car off cylinder blocks would be a concern.

Jako, I understand your concern as I also asked about a set of wheel locks. I think some of the people on these forums are ridiculous and incredibly rude. I rarely ask questions or post anything because of people like this. I always think of that old saying, "Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience". I find it pretty sad how many trolls are on these forums. I bet over half of the clowns on here don't even own a Porsche.

People like to trash talk the weight savings of titanium lug bolts, but given how much these same folks will spend on fancy forged wheels, it doesn't seem like all that bad of a return on investment. I think the real issue is that lug nuts are one of those "out of sight, out of mind" parts that are more about performance than flashy looks. So it's hard to swallow spending $300 on a set of bolts, when it won't make you look any cooler.

If you figure folks will pay $6000 to buy forged wheels that save roughly 15 pounds over stock, then they are paying $400/pound. The aftermarket industry likes to trash OEM parts, but the fact is, Porsche stuff rolls off the assembly line pretty light weight as it is. So the stock wheels are actually pretty good.

This particular alloy of Titanium has a density of 4420kg/m3, while stainless steel is around 8000kg/m3. So the bolts will be 55% of the mass of the OEM ones (approximately).

These lug bolts weigh about 70 grams each, so the equivalent steel bolt is about 127 grams, or a difference of 57 grams.

57g * 20 bolts = 1140 g = 2.5 pounds savings.

So for only $275, you save 2.5 pounds ($110/pound), whereas a set of forged wheels runs you about $400/pound in weight savings. So I'd say they are a pretty darn good deal. It's also not that much of a capital outlay, so you can you can slide it by the wife, whereas she would put my head on a pike if I spent $6000 on a set of wheels

I'll bet this car had wheel locks....

I've really been considering ordering a set of titanium lug bolts. I think they look great.
