Friend with 991C4s says it's faster
Hi Guys
I have this OCD friend that swears his 991C4s is faster then our 997 Turbos.
He has sent me times from Porsche around the Ring and various sources of data. Has anyone of you ever raced against a 991C4s or a 991S?
Sounds like two little kids I know.

Not a specific race but I do have a buddy who has a 991 S with PCCB and we do spirited monthly Porsche drives through the Ga mountains. He's a very good driver and his car is FAST but when we hit a twisty road with straight road after the turns, my Turbo hits the corners better and on acceleration out of the turn I have the advantage. As for a 991 C4S I would expect to loose the cornering advantage but still maintain the straight line advantage.

991 C4S = 12.3 second 1/4 mile
997.1 TT = 11.8 second 1/4 mile
pretty close...

I had a 991C2S and now the turbo. Ring times are all relative, and are all over the map - different drivers, different conditions, different tires, etc... you can go on and on. No point in this.
My 991S was fast, no doubt about it, and handled better than my turbo (more stable, balanced, composed), but faster it was not. The 991S will keep up with any turbo on public roads just fine, but give it a long straight (track) and the turbo is gone, no chance for the 991S and less so for the 4S.

Back in the day this was settled in a straight line for pink slips... People are less mouthy and arrogant about their car when they can lose the title in a race lol Your car is faster stock... mod it and there is no contest.

if he's got PDK then any speed advantage he's referencing is all about the paddles. But the 991 S is producing 400 hp and 300 something lb-ft of torque, vs 500 hp / lb-ft in the 997 Turbo so not sure how he's backing up his claims. and the 4S is heavier than the S

So I have 2010 977.2 TT I have beaten my friends 991GTS on numerous occasions.
Also:
- I have beaten a new 991 TT with one car length and a half.
- 2010 991 TT vert with A full IPE Exhaust, beat him with a half car length.
- 2015 991 GTS disappears. Well above 5 car length till 160 Miles.
- 2015 991 GT3 car and a half length at 160 and I was still gaining on them.
All above races were done from 50 Miles to 150-160 miles.
Till know I only lost to an 2014 Ferrari Italia.
Those 997.2 TTs are beasts.

Thanks Guy's yes no doubt it's all up to the drivers.
I did drive the 991S a while back and walked away impressed by what it could do but as many have said it's not faster.
This friend talks a good game but is no racer and these days I race Karts.
Thanks again

Nice post, i assume thats why Porsche want more money for a 997 TT.
Even a smooth FVD or e. tune on a 997.1TT will change the more obvious.
A stock 997.1TT has a lot of hidden potential.
