Talking 997 Turbo 2010 PDK - LET THE MODS BEGIN!

Hi all,

Bought my Atlas Grey 911 Turbo PDK around 3 months ago. To be honest, wasn't keen on the ride quality, arch gap and how much the wheels stuck in! Also how quiet it was, making near enough no noise unless on boost and even then it sounded like a jet fighter crossed with a vacuum cleaner (to me anyway). Quite cool but not what I was looking for, great for the older gentleman, not for a ASBO drifter like me I came from a C63 so I guess was spoilt for noise.

Wanted a 911 all my life, so wasn't going to let these small grievances detract me from my love for the marque! Swiftly I have done the following:

GT2 RS Center Lock Wheels
Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2's (245/325)
Ohlins R&T Coilovers
H&R Front and Rear Swaybars
Custom 3" Straight Piped Short Exhausts (No CATS/MUFFLERS)
COBB Tune by D at Pro Tuning Freaks

Big thanks to Dzenno from Pro Tuning Freaks for his work on the COBB tube, more info on this soon:

http://www.protuningfreaks.com/

And another big thanks to Ken at Nine Excellence for his help with the suspension / wheels, very down to earth guy. Highly recommended if your in the UK:

It's literally transformed the look and feel of the car, I'm in love. Before it bounced all over the place with PASM off (too soft), then with PASM on it was bone shaking stiff whilst still being bouncy. My drift car felt softer on the road than PASM lol. In my opinion totally mismatched, fine for cruising around on smooth roads, terrible for anything else. Now it's literally a dream to drive! The coilovers suck up the bumps, it doesn't bounce, it feel stiff but not too stiff and I don't have to keep pressing a button Literally couldn't be happier.

Love how Atlas Grey changes in lighting:

Sounds mental. Just have two of these short exhausts either side with twin tips. Maximum gains, minimal lag, and totally irresponsible

Ohlins Coilovers fitted:

I've ordered a Aerokit front splitter but am undecided on the rear, needs a bigger wing. Any suggestions?

I'll update this thread as I go, I've recently started making YouTube videos so will get some videos of the 911 made for anyone who's interested

Cheers,

ML

Great looking car, the RS wheels really fill the fenders out perfectly

Awesome! Stay away from the enormous wing IMO. Takes the class of the car down a notch.

Looks great, love that color, but your second pic reminds me how I will never own a black-ish car again lol.

looks awesome! How is the exhaust holding up for you? getting annoying? I too feel like the car with the stock muffler is very quiet - but I'm looking for something with a bit more grunt - not insanely loud at any rpm.

Looking forward to your finished build pics and feedback.

This is in cabin lol with windows open. If you stick it in drive you can tame it but I prefer manual mode and lots of noise. When hot on boost it pushes flames out as you accelerate I've noticed. I think DFI engine is particularly quiet and this really brings out the 911 sound with a bit of craziness thrown in.

Default 997 Turbo 2010 PDK - LET THE MODS BEGIN!

Nice car, his exactly what I'm trying to do with my car. I have the same exterior Colour with central lock RS wheels. Hoping to do the same Mods you did. My only hesitation is with the short cats & Exhaust bypass pipes. They sell them on the FVD website. I know I would need a tune, but I'm not sure if I'm going to lose back pressure, damage the turbos. Can share some info on that please ?

Beautiful car mate.

Beautiful car mate.
Losing backpressure is what you want in a turbo setup. NA motors need some backpressure however, not the turbos though and if anything turbos will thank you as they breathe better the less backpressure there is pre/post turbo.

I did a 1/4 mile run today, my best was 10.80 @ 129.89 - My 60ft wasn't very good at 1.84. I was running 30 psi up front and 34 psi in the rear, shall I lower the rear down to 30 psi? Running Cup Sports. Any other tips to improve my time?

Track is 100m above sea level, air temp was 24 degrees. Mods are straight pipes (no cats/mufflers) & tune, PDK 2010 Turbo. My first time ever drag racing! Makes a change from going sideways

Love the mods.
Also looking at lowering my 997.2 turbo and changing the offset of the weels.

What is the offset of the GT2 wheels compares with the std RS Spyder wheels?

I've sent you a PM.

Here is mine with the factory Aerokit fitted

Looks great! I think now you need more GT2 parts to complete the look.
