997 Turbo UK - WTB

Hey Folks.

Looking at getting into a 997 Turbo.

Any UK owners considering selling?

Has to be a manual.

Cab or Coupe.

Let me know

Cheers

Right....

Found a couple of cars online....Manual Cabs (my preference)

These things hold the money well!!

Car is pushing my budget to the max (50K) for a 50k miles. That said, I really do want a Turbo..

I did see a few GEN 2 4S & S cabs that are coming in at around 7k cheaper. (Much easier on my my budget)

My only concern with the S versions is that I think these tend to drop to mid to low 20's at 8-10 years (looking at early Carrera 997 & 996 prices), whereas from what I have seen with the 996 T, the T cars tend to bottom out at around 40K.

From my limited knowledge I don't think I have ever seen a 911 T of any year for less than 40K??

IMHO the 997 T is a better looking car, last of the metzger etc... so I am thinking that 50K could be the entry point for a sorted 997 T?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

997 Turbo UK - WTB

I own an ex UK car, purchased at 80k km for NZ$80k.

Get a decent PPI and focus on the exhaust hardware (from headers to tips) and tandem pump for corrosion.

Don't be afraid of high mileage, these cars are sturdy (with the exception of the design flaws such as coolant pumps).

Okay....

Just pulling the trigger on an OPC approved used car.

Got a 2 year warranty with the deal.

I am happy to proceed full steam ahead...

Would anyone HPI or carry out any other checks/due diligence?

TIA

OPC can give you a copy of the HPI, but they always ensure it is clear as a part of the "Approved Used" process. You don't need to do anything else with approved used, anything comes up, you just take it back, they do the 111 point check and put a 2 year warranty on the car.

It is a bit late now, but on your earlier point regarding non-T vs T, the 996 T's dipped into the low £20s a few years ago, they've only recently gone back up again. If you are that concerned about depreciation, you've made the right choice because the non-T Gen 2s haven't finished depreciating, but the Gen 1 turbos appear to have bottomed out and are also edging up in price along with 996 turbos. Gen 2 turbos probably have a little further to go in depreciation, but probably not too far, the high price of the 991s and increasing price of 996 turbos seem to be helping that trend...

Enjoy the new car!
