So true. Still got a smoking hot body and you'll forget about her face as soon as you get behind the wheel

I like the 997 and would have bought one if it weren't for two reasons, the interior and the overall feel from behind the wheel. Nothing wrong with opinions and most are well put and polite but some are just childish.

I bought a 996 turbo because they were raising my rent at the trailer park.
They are equally GREAT cars and you wouldn't have the 997 if it wasn't for the 996. Now excuse me I have to go dig through my couch cushions for gas money.

lol. while i agree with most all comments having to do with the aesthetics argument of one look over another, i do not think it fair to show a pic of a std 996 99/00 c2 as a comparison to the 996t. the 996 tt lamps are far more unique lol, like em or not. that said i would opt for a 997.1 tt last of the mezgers and do much of what i have done to my 2nd 996tt. it is RAW. i almost made the trade but have vacillated as i have so much into my 996 that i would have to get the 997.1 and spend another 20k instantly ( or of course find one modded to my wants/needs ) before it even came close in terms of performance to my current 996t.
so i'm with jim on this but of course our bias is obvious. that said, the 997.1 is soooo close to the 996t that it is THE LAST of the turbo's that have any of the "rawness" which so many of you and others reasonably identify and can more easily be coaxed out of it, as opposed to say a 997.2 or tts let alone a 991 tt but that's a "fageddaboudit". nothing is gonna come close to a 991 turbo. arguments must end there.
however, my old beat up 996 tt running rwd at 600rwhp+/- ? well, i'm confident that docfink would sh*t his pants if he "pushed" it. lol
great post. the front has grown on me, and i hope not just so that i might endure the derision of round lamp purists lol.
one point i neglected to post ( to myself ) is that the topic was ttS vs 997t and i fell for the old argument 996 vs 997, which i shouldn't have. the question i remind myself was about the ttS, and i think the 996tts in pristine condition will out value a 997tt over time, all else being near equal. as mentioned it's the rarity of the 996tts coupes in the US that makes this so. so if value down the road is a factor rarity needs to be taken into account. i just wouldn't want to mess with pccb rotors when changing.
+1 the deal of the century on that car. well done!

we all have to deal in one way or another with our sense of inadequacy, because we only have the "lowly" 996 tt LOL. not.

very simple, buy whatever you enjoy DRIVING more.
both have a few minor issues, both have upsides/downsides...
since every photo comparison on here so far is old cellphone quality for 996 and photoshop/DSLR for 997, I'll show how ugly 996's are ...
Cheers,

Three Wheelin'
comes down to two things IMO.
which do you prefer the looks of, the 996tt or 997tt, i prefer the looks of the 997tt slightly over the 996t, always heated the headlights, is that worth an extra $25k+, same goes for the interior, performance wise they are very close but the 997t is better all around, is it worth the extra $25k, thats up to you but you really can't go wrong with either IMO. I have owned 3 996t and 2 997t, loved them all and they were all bullit proof.
imo the two really is a preference and very close, you can clearly tell the 997t came from the 996t. the 991 is a totally new animal

LOL @ comparing the looks of a dirty, bone stock 996 Turbo in a cellphone pic to the looks of your 997 Turbo with carbon front lip and aftermarket wheels (maybe lowered too) taken with a much better camera.

LMAO, look at all the upset 996 guys rushing this thread. Why so upset fellas? You like your car, that's all that matters. But don't go around trying to convince others to like the butter face sister too

It's all really quite in good fun. Honestly I think that we all choose our cars based on our own preferences and that's what matters. I'm sure the 991 vs 997 comparison gets beat up as well. I think each car equally is stunning with styling Ques that make either desirable.
Here's some recent pics I took.
