Default Upgraded Coils Worth it?

I did a search function but really did not find what I was looking to know. My car has around 62k miles on it with the following engine mods;

1. Fabspeed V3 Exhaust
2. Softronic Tune
3. Upgraded Intake Pipes
4. GT2RS/997.2 Intercoolers

I am getting ready to add

1. RSS Motor Mounts
2. EVO Recirculation Valves

While I am installing some of these components I will be doing some maintenance, plugs, coils, ect. My question is should I just replace the stock coils with new stock coils while I am changing the plugs? Is it worth the extra money to go to upgraded coils? I am not sure how much further I will take the car, possibly upgraded VTG's in the future, however I think I am okay with the power levels where they are at now without pushing it.

The only upgraded coils I've seen are the BBI ones, and I've not heard of anyone who used them yet. Given your goals, I'd say that new stock coils should run very efficiently for you. If you were going to build a 1000+ whp monster, maybe it would make sense, but I'd keep the money in my pocket until there is a proven value in the 4X price tag.

Just my $.02.

Thanks Scott! I know that both BBI and EVOMS make them, however they only come on the higher HP packages which lead me to believe the same thing as you. I do no feel the need to build a really high HP car, already went down that road with a Supra I built and it made the car somewhat unusable for the streets.

I'm kinda interested in them as well, but I think Scott is probably right.

I'm interested too, just don't know any results that aren't marketing speak

These cars seem to run out of fuel before the spark becomes a problem, I've gathered.

TP, is that the same on the 9a1 in your build?

I think I'm still pretty far away in terms of power to run into the fuel problem, I'll be at around 650hp (crank). I'm installing Aquamist this week with two massive injectors to the Y-pipe, so this would potentially help with any upcoming fuel demands - I'm planning to run 100% methanol to cool the engine, and I won't tune for it to be on the safe side.

Depends on how much boost you plan on running. Two things I've noticed with the higher power ignition coils, 1. the engine runs smoother overall on or off boost at all rpm, and 2. on high boost (anything over 24psi and my car is tuned to almost 30psi) I never have a miss. My car is equipped with BBi coils but is not stock.

I believe KW makes a coilover for your vehicle as well. I love KW products. Can take a look here. I agree that the OEM suspension will run very efficiently, but if you're wanting more I'd check out KW. The V3's are going to be more of a track application compared to their V1's, as you can see by the price, but they hold up very well.

They are talking about Ignition Coils....Not suspension....

Good info though.

I'm interested in knowing more about the meth injection. My car is not a daily driver so I keep 101 octane in it now, however it gets very expensive to drive it when I want to and I would like to see if there is a safe way to run meth injection and get the same outcome.
