Default New steering wheel

Thank to Art on the site here for hooking me up with DCT steering wheels. Got this wheel and installed it yesterday. I am going to add yellow stitching on the shift boot and yellow front safety belts. I have a shoemaker who will do the stitching for me on the boot so I don't have to pay Porsche tax. The wheel is awesome and the quality is amazing.

I have new wheels coming that will be here in four weeks. Forgestar 19's in gunmetal gloss. Can't wait..

Have the exact same steering wheel. Great feel and response. You will love it.

Where did you get this steering wheel from? Please attach a link. I'm on the hunt for a 997T and one of the first mods will be swapping out the steering wheel

Brian,

Here is the link. They will build you whatever you want. Call Ivan. Super nice guy. You do a core exchange. Takes about 6 to 8 weeks to get the wheel.

Thanks phillipj for the link! I installed a new steering wheel on my C6 Corvette. I unplugged the battery, popped out the air bag, and had to rent a steering wheel puller. It looks like the Porsche steering wheel swap would be the same method.

Looks great Phillip! Love the flat bottom and yellow accents. DCT makes great wheels

How come you didn't go with MAcarbon? Was it just a price thing? Also when I go on DCT's website I can't find any wheels for the 997.2. Their prices seem reasonable. But I wonder how the quality compares to MAcarbon.

I sense a disturbance in the force... I feel a "What's the best steering wheel" thread about to be posted...

joking aside, and in good faith to save us all the pain of another jem7v "what if" thread I went to Macarbon and configured a 997 wheel in all leather and compared it to the equivalent DCT MS wheel. Price is $1050 for Macarbon vs $950 for DCT MS.

As far as I can tell Macarbon doesn't offer a flat bottom like DCTMS (+$100) and doesn't offer the contour grip either like DCTMS. So it'll come down to personal preference in terms of which style you like, but price is the same for all intents and purposes. As Philip was saying, the leather quality and craftsmanship on the DCT wheels is excellent, but I have no experience with Macarbon wheels so YMMV.

The Porsche wheel is super easy to remove and doesn't require a puller or any special tools.

Both use oem cores, prices similar, I'm sure quality is comparable. OEM is best.
