Loved the HPS pads on my Carrera worked great. But can't wait to see what the ceramics do.

WHOA!!!!!!! How the hell do the rear pads come apart?? They don't lift out the top like the front. There's a cast piece of caliper across the opening and the spring clip is stuck in there.

Yes, but you don't need to remove the brake fluid line or anything like that. Unbolt the caliper and pull it off the rotor -- either hang it with something suitable and let it sit on something (I used 2 stacked gallon paint cans) so it doesn't put strain on the line.

Alright got it apart. Took out sensors then pads real PITA! Realized it'd have been easier if I could've gotten the dampener of the pad first. Now to figure out how to get the spring retainer out so I can clean the calipers, it needs to be pretty going to the Detroit Grand Prix and parking in the Porsche Platz so needs to be well presented!

Planned on reusing the front dampeners but they cam off with the pad paint...no way to salvage them. So front left apart, rear left apart, and I'm on my front porch enjoying a refreshing beverage. I'll tackle the rears tomorrow and the fronts when the new dampeners arrive.

Cheers!

Update on cool carbon pads after a few hundred miles......
They produce some dust, way less than stock, but noticeable.
Stopping great, good bite.
Noise, normal driving quiet, busy stop and go, squeal like a stuck pig, regardless of new dampness/assembly lube, etc. borderline unbearable.
Verdict, I would try hawks next time or just use oem and deal with the dust. I can't in good faith recommend the cool carbon pads.

TT Surgeon - thank you for your honest comments.

Can anyone provide feedback on the Hawk Ceramic Pads? I'm about to put some HRE's on and would really like to minimize the amount of brake dust beforehand.

Thank you,
Kyle

I use EBC Red for the street due to stock pad dust. Street only though. For track, PFC or Pagid.

So pads on with new rotors. Bedded the pads. Drove the ever lovin' crap outta the car, stops on a dime.

Stop what you're doing, put down you're coffee, beer, scotch, double half caf latte, bottled water...n buy these pads.

The best part no dust! Thanks Hawk!

Installed Cool Carbon with new Centric Rotors. Have driven about 350 miles, opinion as follows:
- Minimal dust compared to stock, the little dust there is is light in colour and not really noticeable. I couldn't stand the amount of brake dust with the stock pads!
- Initial bite is not as good as stock, stopping is good, but again I think stock pads perform better
- No squeal or noise. I bought these because of low noise/dust comments, I'm hoping TT Surgeon's experience with the noise is abnormal.

Assuming noise/dust/performance remains the same, I would recommend these for street driving. I think I'd prefer stock pads for the track (or race ads as others suggested).

I will chime back in a couple weeks...

Good thread!

Eddie
