997 turbo cab or bmw m1
Hello everyone
This is my first post in this forum since long time ago i used to read your post and now I'm interested to me a member in this forum.
i would like to share with you an issue I'm facing it might not be an issue for some but for me it does. I'm willing to buy a pre-owned car soon and i decided to find out f there is any 997 turbo cab available and i did found one but i also thinking about the bmw M1 at the same time let me tell you something i live in Kuwait which is really hot during summer and too cold in winter so do you think 997 turbo cab would be a good decision rather than M1 or not ? I appreciate your feedback.
regards

I am not clear about your question but I can tell you that there are many Porsche owners in Kuwait. I was there on business last November and watched a Thursday night cruise night with lots of exotics. I talked to a few folks and the only issue I heard of was catalyst melting under super high speed runs during the high temperature days. I learned that you have highway sections where you can run for miles at WOT. Apparently there is minimum law enforcement on some roads and they are smooth and flat. Many folks run without catalyst anyhow since there is no emission testing and you can get high octane fuel (100+).
I would get the turbo.

I have a 1M and love it. Its not as fast as the tt but its is a blast to drive. Short wheelbase, loads of torque and totally analog experience (kinda the anthesis of modern cars like the gtr which i disliked). I am looking to add TT to go with it. Thinking a TT-S cab would compliment it though very different cars. Drive them both and see what suites you. I don't anticipate getting rid of the bimmer. Also, I live in Houston, and while its not Kuwait, I have never had heat issues with the 1M.

BMW 1M has less number of production than porsche 997.2 turbo cab but everyone os complaining in Kuwait that a convertible car in summer might be an issue. refer to top hear jeremy clarkson review he said that its not a good idea to have a super car in convertible but he recommended the coupe.

If you were looking at a .2 turbo S, I would tell you to spend your money on that. I really don't like the 997.1. It's really not worth the money in my mind for anything more than like 70k. They made such an improvement on the .2

Convertible is nice, but usually older ones have issues with the top. But regardless, I rather buy the 1M for like 55k, pay 10k to Dinan, and they will make it an animal.

.2 cars have more power with the DFI however you can always bump up a 997.1TT with the money you saved over the .2.
All comes down to if you want a Mezger or DFI in your turbo car. Both are excelent.

It is perceived as a hair dressers car like the Boxster.....
Dont get me wrong, i love small cars with lots of hp and brakes. But alas, as vain as it sounds i would rather be seen in a 997 then a boxster or M1....
