I'm too old to understand the reference. Are you talking about drag racing from a light? Does the absence of badging make people think 1) that they can beat it because they don't realize it is actually a 2.9s car, or 2) that it must be heavily modded and therefore a very fast car that they feel challenged to beat? My car is basically stock, and I'm not trying to indicate otherwise. I just want it to look as good as possible.

LOL...I hear you and I assume that is what he meant. I had the chance to de-badge my TT and decided I like the badge...don't care what attention it gets or not...I just wanted mine black

PS But I will admit whilel going down the road and come up on a Mustang, Audi, etc...and they will start trying to keep up with me and for whatever reason they fall behind (traffic, etc...) and I assume they then see the Turbo badge and all of suddent they don't want to play anymore??? Maybe???

I think this would look great in black, you'll love it. Personal preference, but I wouldn't think twice!

Default If you are in CT you can bring it to the guy I used to paint my emblem...

I don't think that any 997 Turbos had black emblems, but I am not sure. I don't think a black version is available from Porsche. I have heard that people have just painted the chrome one. I might do this if I have to, but I wonder about the following:

1) Does the Cayenne Turbo S have the same Turbo S script as the 997? It looks the same, but I'm not sure. I think it was available in black.
2) I think the 993 and 997 turbo S had different scripts from the 997. In particular, the S on the 997 is longer.
3) Is the S from a Carrera 4S the same on a 997 as the Turbo S?
4) If I buy a chrome replacement, what is the best paint and process to refinish it so that it looks good and wears well?
5) How to I remove the old one safely and then glue on the new one? Is there a template, or should I just mark the car somehow to keep track of the placement?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

FYI, I am doing this in conjunction with putting on black quad tips, so I'm trying to get rid of the last bits of chrome on the car.

Thanks.
I went to a great shop in Cliffside Park NJ called Bergen Imports and they did my rear lettering which came out great...I attached a picture here. I have the original chrome ones on the rear and for them to do the project they needed to order new emblems for me which they did and then they painted them and applied them...it was a decent price as well.
