It was driven in the rain yesterday, and the first time it faulted was after a wash, so the theory of it being moisture related is the most likely. Unsure if I want to start pulling it apart to try resolve given it returns to normal after a restart....
Maybe when you find where the relays are...just test by hitting each with water and seeing if it duplicates the issue...Easy way to narrow it down? Or maybe seal them or wrap them to keep them dry, and then spray and see if it works...

Good luck..

Possible water on an electrical connection, I would not do this.

I would take my car to dealer and hook up to PIWIS to look for fault.

Also, sometimes male connectors work themselves out of socket with vibration. If you find the relay , give it a good push in with thumb and see if that works.

Any links to a consolidated spoiler troubleshooting thread? I got my first chime of spoiler malfunction the other day on my way home. After restarting it went away...but now concerned if just a sign of things to come. Would like to stay on top of it.

Hey Guys...Here is a WM that shows removal and install for the Rear Spoiler Wiring harness....It has some good info and locations of micro switches etc. in it and may help you out.

Good luck.

Looks like the 997 hydraulic system is essentially the same as the 996. The microswitches on the 996 are like fine Swiss watches. Not at all rugged.

Thanks for the feedback. Car is now in storage so I will continue to troubleshoot in the spring time.
