Default Alternate place for sat radio antenna

I installed an Alpine head unit in my 911TT about a year ago. Mounted the antenna under the plastic cowl near the wipers. Sat radio drops out frequently, much more than any other car i have owned. I am ready to cancel the service it is so annoying
Does not seem that there is a "sat radio booster" that one can install inline
So: Where else to mount the antenna? Will it help?

I would check for a loose connection before you give up.
Under the plastic cowl is where I mounted mine.
Only time it drops is driving through tree cover. Otherwise never.

I read that these antennas are sensitive to bending/twisting, perhaps i should just replace with the new micro dot antenna.

The fiber optic cables (orange) are sensitive to bending and twisting. The power cables not so much. I would check the power connectors first. This is the modified plug and play kit from the Cayenne that I DIY'd.

I experimented with quite a few Sirius XM antenna locations -- see my results in https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum...ation-s-2.html.

+1, just had Sirius/XM installed and my antenna is located in the same place as yours. I also asked the same questions about reception. It seems under the cowl on the passenger side is the best location and plastic will not interfere with signal reception. This is my second TT with the antenna located under the cowl and I haven't had any reception problems except when driving through thick tree cover.

When I had satellite radio installed in my 996, I had the satellite antenna mounted on the metal front bumper underneath the bumper cover. It was totally concealed and it worked perfectly.

I'm having issues with reception as well and we tried a couple locations under the cowl. Dennis' bumper idea has me thinking.

When it streams thru the phone you never lose a signal for some reason. If you already have the sat acct the app is free.

Here's the placement in my 996. One GPS antenna is for the Sirius XM system and one for satellite navigation. They worked very well.
