Default New OptiCoat 2.0 for paint..

Hi Guys, just wanted to share that yesterday I had my detailer apply the Opticoat 2.0 on my car and it looks fantastic. I always have problems keeping the black shiny so I decided to take the plunge and hopefully have a final solution. After some color correction to take all the surface scratches from the gel coat and the opticoat applied, here are the results. They claim that no waxing is needed after this for many years, so I'll be posting back on the results as time goes by.

The car looks like it turned out great!

OT: How dark is your tint? I like the look, just not sure I could do it at night.

Looks great. Probably OptiCoat Pro, not 2.0.

@ECStuning , thanks sir, the hood its like a mirror now. The tint is way too dark for my taste as well, especially at night. Something the previous owner did and I plan to eventually correct.
@Lexvan , no he used the 2.0 version citing more user friendliness given it takes longer to cure and therefore have a smoother surface.

That makes no sense. My guess is that your detailer is not an approved/authorized OptiCoat installer. Approved Detailers use the PRO version. They are only allowed to sell the 2.0 to non-approved detailers or DIY'ers. They can't sell the PRO version to the same.

Both great products. The PRO version just lasts longer. I plan to have my car redone every other year.

Again, your car looks great. You'll see washing will be super easy. Bug guts fly right off with a little dwell time. Heck, the soap can barely stay on.

How much does that cost, if you don't mind me asking?

About $1,000. There's an active thread over on the 991 Forum too.

The key is in the proper prep and paint correction.

Looks great. Do they do a full detail (claying, polish, and glaze) before applying the Opti Coat?

that's a must. the opticoat is almost like an additionally layer of clear coat, but its a harder material. if they don't do proper paint corrections as you described, then the opticoat will just seal in all the swirls and imperfections and it would look awful. the finish needs to be completely perfect before the opticoat is applied.

Agree the tint is too dark for a dark car, however the paint job ROCKS! Looks like a beautiful finish. Congrats.
My TT heads over to the detailer next week for paint correction, clay and wax. He's going to tint whilst its there but not too dark a colour. My car is Slate Grey and too dark a tint doesn't seem to work. Also, they are difficult in low light / dark situations to see out of (my other cars have dark tint)

$1000.00! That's crazy and ridiculous I am sorry. Why just not an old fashioned wax and shine then Rejex or any other paint sealent? I don't get it and forgive me, I don't want to offend anyone.

Then you've never had your car professionally detailed and paint corrected. It's all in the prep. Before the final step is applied, like OptiCoat. The OptiCoat adds maybe $100 to the tab for the material.
