30K Mile Maintainence
So I just hit 30k miles on my '09 and it's time to do some maintenance. I figure I definitely need to change the spark plugs, although I am not sure if I should change the coils as well.
As far as my brakes go the rear pads are almost totally worn but the fronts still look pretty good. Should I just change all 4 now or just replace the rears and not worry about it. I am also unsure whether or not I should replace the rotors. There seems to be mixed opinions online how often the rotors should be replaced. I notice some very small groove lines in them but I'm not sure if this justifies full replacement. The car is used exclusively on the street.
I am also wondering if it is time for other routine maintenance things like replacing air filters and such. Any advice would be appreciated.

Most people replace spark plugs every 30K miles even though the manual says 60K. Coils are not necessary IMO.
For a street driven car I'd change the rear pads and call it a day. And flush the brake fluid if you haven't done it in the past couple of years.
Engine and cabin air filters are cheap and a piece of cake to replace, might as well do that. Fuel filter is also not a bad idea to do.
If you drive the car hard I'd suggest transmission and front diff fluid change as well.

I bought my Turbo at the 30K mark from a Porsche dealer. They immediately performed the 30K service which included spark plugs, cabin and engine filters. Brake fluid flush was also done but that was mainly because the front pads and rotors were also swapped out for new one's.

owned my 07 997.1TT tip for 16months now- it's only at 24.5k miles- Just had Europipe EP1 installed & while at shop had complete (probably overkill) maintenance- plugs, coil packs, tip trans filter & fluid, front/rear diff fluid, serpentine belt, fuel filter, air filter. I bought all parts from Sunset Porsche in Oregon (saved big $$ vs local dealer). Plan on keeping car for long while so i'm good to go now for many yrs. I do my own brake fluid/pads & oil changes regularly.

that's always been confusing. in porsche maintenance manual it states that plugs are 40k items 997.1TT. but when i went to the dealer they said 30k. The 997.2TT is 24k. The 09 and above are 30k. I'm just at 29500. I'll be waiting to go at 40k unless i can find a good deal on labor. i'll probably do the plugs and coils at the same time.
how's the brake dust looking? i'm so tired of the dust. i'll be going hawks hps soon. on my car, the previous owner simply replaced the pads. you can feel and see the grooves. i'll probably be replacing the rotors when i get the pads.

Agree on just doing the rear pads, the rotors would have to be pretty scored to need replacing, at least it's easy if you have to do them as well.
Suncoast used to have a combo deal on coils and plugs together.

Coming up on 30k on my 2011 TTS. Thoughts on what I need to have done? Plugs, oil, brake fluid?

Depends on when the various items were last done. Typically I do:
Oil/Filter - every year (I normally don't do more than 7500 miles per year) or 10K miles whichever is first
Brake/Clutch Fluid - every 2 years (I changed my clutch to a GT2 slave, so actual brake fluid is now used)
Air/Cabin Filter - every 2 years
Sparks - 30K (coils are optional, some say do them at the same time, some say wait for a failure) I did mine when I dropped the engine just because
Drive Belt - 40K - though time may be an issue since it is a rubber part. I would certainly inspect it for cracks
Trans/Diff oil - did them when I dropped the engine. Car was just over 12 years old. Schedule says 120K or 12 years
This is in addition to the wear and tear items like brakes and tires (I have an inner CV boot to replace at the moment).

Interesting thread. What if someone owned a 2012 Turbo S and planned on trading it in or selling it within 5 months but was at 30000 miles now. What would you do in this situation? This "person" loves to drive their car, but not hard, and didn't want to spend $1800 or $2k if they didn't really have to since it will most likely be gone by January/February... or sooner. Or should it be done anyway? The whole thing including plugs?

If I were the buyer and had that knowledge I would price it into the purchase price. So for me, you would either get it on the front end or the back end. Since I do my own work, it would be a benefit to me, for others it might be something to discuss during the sale.
For our cars, maintenance performed (or not, but due) would probably be part of the purchase information, but that is not always the case.
