I had 4 different exhausts on my 997TT
-Fabspeed
-911Tune
-techart
-Europipe

The worst exhaust was Fabspeed.... The noise was almost as bad as a honda civic with a $150 Chinese aftermarket exhaust...

I don't mean disrespect joe but you guys BS a lot too... We all know you can't gain 21HP just by adding an air filter with the CF shields.

Also odd here is they say they have no CEL yet i recall a few users on 6 saying they got CELs with the CG and changed it for something else and problem solved. So there is obviously more to the CG CEL issue than just the cat itself. It is good CG use the HJS but it is 200 cel.... not as good flowing as the 100 cel as used by EP for eg. which has no reported CELs if I may add.

Not saying the CG hasn't proved to be a good system for certain users but fact is there are users that couldn't handle the unbearable droning who then junked out of it for something else, and then there are also the reported CEL issues....both issues hard to overlook to be honest. Some may not bother about those issues and are happy, but to each his own. I guess one up side is CG actually uses decent HJS cats so that counts for something. But then there is the price of it vs others too so....

I'm interested in picking up a fabspeed exhaust for the improved sound only--I'm satisfied with my car's performance. That being said, I recall one guy (or troll) saying it sounded (here I'm paraphrasing) "like a Corolla with hole in its exhaust" in another post...The video sounds good to me, as does the EP vid. Since I can't see them in person, I would be taking a shot on which I would prefer...

I want an alternative to the standard exhaust with a gutsier sound and no droning...Is that truly possible?

I think that with an aftermarket exhaust, there will always be small compromises, whether it is driving at 5mph higher on the highway or shifting later around town.

You are lucky in the 997.2 TT that in my opinion, suffers the LEAST from drone characteristics that almost any other car that I offer exhausts for. The DFI turbo cars are so quiet that we don't even offer mufflers for them, just straight to a Supsersport X-pipe which in my opinion is not only a great sounding exhaust but also one that would not get annoying with the windows up.

Since CG is being mentioned, I have to say I'm satisfied with mine (medium level sound) and I have so far no probs with CELs .....
My car sounds better but its by no means a big difference. EP might sound betterr but the price tag....... lol

Yes. It is possible with the EP1. That is a given. Can't say the same for any of the others. They can (and do) make all the claims they want but when you get users say they drone then you you better believe it. That said now the lid has been lifted on all cat BS that is going on with a lot of these AM manufacturers it narrows the field dramatically in terms of what brand you would even put on your car. If the cats aren't at least to the standard of the OEMs HJS, then why bother changing them for something that is blocked with pins. It kinda makes any 200 cel benefit moot. Just change the muffler or drop an Xpipe on and leave the stock cats on.

I've have heard the.2 has been a far easier car to deal with the drone than any .1tt to date. This has for sure made it much easier for the AM exhaust manufacturers to provide a system that is likely to stay put on the car. But then comes the issue of what cats are being used and how loud it is made. At one point the drone has to intrude into the cabin.

.1tt on the other hand, well need I say more...just look at the countless instances of those having to change systems due to the unbearable droning

My CG was much cheaper than EP. Prices on the CG are def negotiable and vendors usually have them in stock ready for shipping. EP, on the other hand , does not budge with the price plus the added cost of international shipping and other fees.....$$$.
As far as drone goes, I think my CG has none whatsoever.....I wish was louder but I def appreciate the subtle rumble

The .2 is indeed much better than the .1TT. The 200 Cell cats that we use IMO are the perfect blend. Not too loud, too smelly, or too fragile for real world usage
