Default Might be getting a 997 turbo...

Current (and first Porsche) ride is a 987.1 CS. Had it just over a year and love it. Have a new engine in it because old one was scored (its a CPO car).

Love my car! But I now commute 60km to work, including in the Ontario winter, on awful roads and I can't help but think a 997 turbo will be better as a daily driver and in the winter than my CS (I already got stuck in my CS with winters on it on an icey road).

I also understand that the 997 turbo is basically bulletproof where as my 987.1 CS wit the m97 engine has lots of known issues, scoring, ims, etc etc. I figure the 997 turbo is the better more reliable higher quality car too?

Plus, its a 911 turbo!

Before I make the plunge I am hoping to hear from people here. pros, cons, known issues with the car?

I know my current car and a 997 turbo are completely different types of cars. I want to hear what's good/bad about the 997 turbo from those of you in the know.

I commute mine 60km (round trip) from downtown - DVP - 401 every day. The winter was absolutely no problem for the turbo's AWD. It's truly amazing with winter tires.

Yes they will be when you're done with them!

^thanks...my wife has an '10CGTS that she loves but only gets around 13mpg...not sure about your CS but in the 997.1TT you will average a lot better than 13mpg! I am always around 26–28mpg.

An excellent car for Canadian year-around driving. I daily drive mine and love it. It's like a TANK. Out here on the 'wet coast' I don't put winter tires on it but you would obviously need to. Good luck on your hunt. Pfaff often has some nice TT's.

A TT that gets 26-28 mpg? Gotta see that. Imperial gallon, maybe?

Was gonna say I'm averages 16.2 mpg and I don't even drive all that aggressive. I must be doing something wrong!

26 MPG in a TT is certainly possible, but not much fun while you're achieving it. If you drive the same way in a Prius you'll get over 50 MPG and you'll both be going the same speed, so why not just but the Prius and save a ton of money.....

My commute is 2 stop lights and then all highway to an airport: OHare or FBO. Around 25.8mpg the past 4,000sh miles. unless of course I get on the boost which in this application is not the time or place and I don't have anything to prove to anyone on the street. (I had published my mpg figures once...kind of good).

Quick Reply: Might be getting a 997 turbo...
