997.1 TT Spark Plug / Coil Change (DIY ATTACHED)
#17
Does anyone have a copy of the factory instructions for the plug change ?
Or maybe the workshop manual for the turbo ?
Having taken my turbos off, and read this diy a number of times, I am wondering how the dealer would do the plugs. I assume they drop the engine, but wondering just how they do it.
I have a copy of the 997 workshop manual, but it only covers non turbo cars.
Cheers
John.

If they remove the engine, you would be looking at 10-16 hours labor just for that....So doubt many would do that for a plug change...but who knows...

Any chance of a resurrection? Many thanks!

For a job this big, $1000 via the dealer might be justified. The BIG difference is you know it was done properly since you did it yourself. And you know nothing was sabotaged or accidentally damaged. But there are just some jobs that are too big for me, especially without someone experienced there to hold my hand haha. I'm about to go through the DIY

Finished the coil plug change! Not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. Forward most drivers side coil was the worst. I did not drop the engine but did remove the exhaust.
Passenger side was a breeze but had to grind down a bolt flange on the actuator to clear the thicker upgraded coil. Would absolutely do it again when time comes.
Have not started it yet because doing other work....
THANKS DC for the write up and pictures.
