Production Numbers for 997 TT?
Does anyone know the production numbers for the 2007 - 2009 997 TT with the Mezger engine and 6 speed manual transmission? Given the financial fallout in 2009 I am expecting this to be the rarest of the 997 TT with the Mezger engine.

I found Porsche's press releases for US sales and for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 model years, 2,773, 668 and 321 coupes, respectively, were sold. For the cabriolet, 1,473 cars were sold in 2008 with an additional 551 units in 2009. In total, 2,773 units sold in 2007; 2,141 in 2008 and 872 in 2009.
Still missing the 6-speed breakdown, but the 2009 model year is the rarest of the Mezger engined 997 TTs. |

Within the Porsche community a 2009 MT Mezger is and will continue to be a desirable car to own now and in the future. It may eventually have limited collector interest/value like the 993 turbos due to its uniqueness and niche value. But, that's at least 10 years away so wait until today's current prices drop further to buy and hold one; that's my plan. In the meantime I'm enjoying my 07. JMO-

Wow, only 321 09 coupes! As I recall when I got mine, they had a lot of Tiptronics in their stock, so I am guessing my MT is a fairly rare bird. It is definitely my long-term keeper.

This tread is making me feel even better about the 09 TT I acquired a couple of weeks ago. White/black, 6 speed, PCCB's, CL's with grey metallic finish, limited slip, sports shifter, thick sports steering wheel, sports chrono package, heater adaptive sports seats, lit sills, XM, bluetooth, clear markers etc. And it's a CPO car as well. I knew it was a rare example, but I didn't realize I may have the ultimate spec as far a 6 speeds go at least. I'm having fun!

Wow, I'm very surprised (pleasantly) at the numbers. I thought the production numbers were much higher for turbos. Do you have a link for this info?

I assume there were so many fewer 09's built as they were transitioning to the 997.2? or were there other reasons involved?

Fewer '09's perhaps due to economic hiccup/disaster in '08, one possibility.
Very happy to own an '09, plan to keep it a bit longer too. |

Here's the link to the press release with 2009 and 2008 sales numbers. Three points to consider:
1) These are sales not production numbers. I couldn't find a link to production numbers. Having said that I expect there to be a strong correlation between production and sales numbers. 2) This is one region of Porsche's global sales, but the US is typically the largest market. 3) US cars from the sunshine states are sought by folks in Europe, especially in Germany and Switzerland. So if there is a strong desire to own 2007 -2009 997 TT some cars will end up there too driving up domestic prices. http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=514 |
i guess it all comes down to wanting either the last Mezger TT 6 speed, or the last DFI TT 6 speed….

And all manuals will disappear over time in the western world...I used to have a HotRod with the 2-speed "Columbia" rear end...you could decide and change rear ratios 4.56:1 or 3.08:1 on the fly!! You don't see that anymore! :) |
Igooz, A Columbia overdrive with a three speed manual transmission was the original six speed!
