Default Rock guard question

As someone who can't leave well enough alone I'm thinking on changing the rear fender rock guards on my white TT. I love the retro look of these black guards. He's a two part question, am I crazy to do this to my 09 TT? I realize this is a personal choice question, but I value opinions from you guys with much more perspective and experience than me. Secondly if the idea has merit, does anyone know where I could source these? Thanks for you unvarnished opinions and advice. Bryan

I'm on the fence about it as well...I think it might look a little busy with the fender vent right above it which is why I haven't pulled the trigger.

Not really a fan but it actually does look pretty good on the white in that pic. Just hope the old ones arent as hard to get off as the ones I had on my 964 turbo, not a fun job.

I drove a 2012 Turbo S with the retro Fuchs wheels and the black guards. While it reminded me of my old 930 I didn't care for it on the 997 platform. But that's me it might be something you like.

I should add that this would be the other part of the formula

Default Splash guard

Love the look. Made these myself. Added the retro Fuch style also.

It is a cute retro idea but it best to leave it off IMHO.

There is a guy on RL that sells Magnetic stoneguard for the 930. I may get them for my 930...
You can probably use the search function and find him and see what you think for your 997TT? Easy to put on and take off...

I prefer the clear as to not highlight the stone protection.

The magnetic idea is superb as you will be able to apply and remove at your discretion for different looks!

You can probably get a smaller piece of matte black vehicle wrapping material from a vendor for a more permanent do it yourself project. http://www.precision-autowerks.com/

Thanks for all the perspective passed along in your posts. The consensus seems to be leave well enough alone. My son summed it up, he said I was trying to duplicate the look of previous 911 I owned, but said it doesn't fit that well with the 997, wise kid, so I'm going to keep it just as it is, well except for changing the side rocker and rear valance pieces from white to black, I just can't help myself...

Gorgeous car Bryan.. I have to agree with your son. I have clear bra on mine in that area.. If you are going to change your rockers you should get the OEM GT2 rockers.. They are about $800 form Suncoast unpainted.. They look really nice and are understated..

I was thinking about this the other day - I wish my car was white so I could put black rims and black stone guards on it. Looks HOT IMHO
DO IT!!!

Bryan, it's funny you should post this. I was thinking about doing the same thing. I have the same reservations that everyone has, but it's just a sticker, doesnt hurt to try.

Where can you order these for the turbo?
