Project Frankenstein 997tt Cabriolet...half way done...pic heavy

The build is half way done...all the aesthetics are done. Next spring Simba will be fitted with a Switzer E911 Flex Fuel setup.

Wow, I followed the thread on 6speed. It turned out absolutely amazing, the details put into this build are stunning. Well done AMG.

Don't think the rear spoiler (color/texture/theme) flows well with the speedster hump...just say'n

bill8411 11-09-2013 09:33 PM

It's too bad the white on the speedster hump doesn't match, or maybe that already has been fixed...

AMGfan 11-09-2013 10:05 PM

Bill...it looks better in person...as far as color match.

C2...its an acquired taste that I have grown to like...but that is personal taste which I knew wouldn't appeal to everyone. I'm cool with it since I'm building a 993 wide body speedster sans rear spoiler so I'll get the traditional feel from that build. With the faux humps on this build, I still wanted a wing since this was a Turbo and not a C4S...so I went with the Werks wing since I personally liked it.

Thematically, I wanted a carbon fiber wing just to balance out the front, sides, and rear with CF. But that (CF details) is also a personal taste decision.

Where did you get all the CF work done? S. Fl.?

+1 I would like to know.

Also, was there any CF that did not snap on and required adhesive, if so what brand?

I have a piece of CF on the driver side upper dash near the windshield that keeps coming unglued. Temperature sensitive, and the piece expands till it buckles in the middle.

I would rather pay to get the work done right by a pro.

think we need to see some video of the 1600hp car you have too

aa909 11-10-2013 11:24 AM

Car looks amazing, you really did a great job on the attention to detail.

The only thing I don't like, and it's all a matter of taste, are the gold mesh wheels. I can see that the design is a throw back to the old school wheels, which I could live with, and I like the polished deep dish lip, but why gold centers? I feel like they somehow detract or distract from the rest of the car. JMHO but it would look proper with silver centers or better yet matte black centers to carry the black accents through from the carbon fiber front lip to the rear spoiler

Sorry guys for the delayed response.

All the CF work was done locally by a subcontractor of the shop (C2Design). Besides the faster turnaround time, having the CF work done locally is a great thing for quality control. All the CF is layed over the OEM parts, vacuum bagged, cleared and polished.

I have BBS LM's on my 993tt and they are color matched to the exterior body color. So I knew I wanted a similar and more old school look with this build. I went with gold with red center caps because I personally felt (my taste coming into play) that it was a good contrast to the red interior and if it wasn't a red interior I would not have gone with gold centers.

Here is the GT-R when it was V1.0 and running @ 1400hp (1st video). V2.0 was further built out to 1600hp (2nd video)...and V3.0 will be run with a new flex fuel system...we are shooting for low 8's and 170mph+ ET's in the quarter.

PS...For road racing purposes, I'm #2 on a waiting list for a Nismo GT-R which I will leave relatively stock. Other than that, I will be looking into the 991 GT3 as a stablemate after I get done with the 1997 993 Speedster (3 month of a probable 18month build), 2006 SL65 wide body build (3 more months left), 1970 240zg wide body (just beginning the search for a base car)...so the 991 GT3 won't be in my sights until a year or 2.

bill8411 11-13-2013 04:26 AM

Good to hear that the whites match on this amazing build!

I may have missed it, who did the steering wheel?

Thanks for detailing all your progress!
