Default 997.2 turbo vs. 997.2 turbo S?

can one make a non S into a S?

Or are there things that cannot be reproduced without massive money?

I think it's more than just software, pccbs, ptv, two tone int, etc

Intake and cylinder heads are different.
If you want the s, get the s. no matter how hard you try, you can't really/easily convert a std turbo into an s, IMHO.

Correct me if I am wrong, but on the 996TT you could option up for X50. The X50 had "calibration" differences and it had "physical" differences to the TT: Maybe Turbo, IC, heads, ...? Later on (powertrain wise) the 996 TTS was launched and it was basically the 996 TT+X50?

I am guessing the same deal on the 997 TT vs. TTS...I am making a corollory here and I can be wrong!

Please tell us what is different with the cylinder head(cams? valves? stud's?). Thought it was strictly a software change.*

When I had mine, the owners manual described the gt2 intake and improved cylinder heads, that could be anything.

in going for 5 lugs, PCCB and PDK with paddles.

If i can find such a Turbo S then i will nab it, if not then i will go for a Turbo with same options but wonder what would i need to get what S may have above and Beyond?

If the S is really only software with no differences in the engine and PDK shifting then i wont even bother with the S....

IMHO: (Stock vs. Stock) The TTS felt noticeably faster than my 997.1TT/Tip and a friend's 997.2TT/MT. Not sure what other folks' think.

I have also seen the youtube of TTS beating the '08GT2 in a drag race. (Of course, I don't believe it! )

If you can $wing the TTS/PDK/5Lug do it! They are out there...

Get the Turbo S..I have one and it is so bad ***.It runs 10.70s @ 130 in the quarter mile all day long( Bone Stock).Makes my ZR1 and Viper seem slow. The other day I bet a new McLaren at the track...The TS w/PDK will beat any stock in a drag race period..

From what i can find, the TTS has 30hp more then TT.
But here is the key difference;

Supposedly the .2TT features "over boost" with the sport chono package to give it more boost pressure for short stints.
The .2TTS comes standard with the higher boost pressure which is on all the time.

FWIW Porsche claims that the 997.2 TTS is the fastest 0-60 of the 997 series. Beating out GT2 RS.
Id say this only due to the PDK and all wheel drive launch.

I have a 997.2 turbo 6 speed manual. When I press sport and hit the turbos, there is definitely a noticeable difference with the over boost compared to not running in sport mode. it is supposedly 530 hp with over boost, comparable to turbo s. But PDK will launch easier unless you drop the clutch from 4000 rpm and abuse the 6 speed.
