Diverter Valve on Turbocharger
 

I think one of my Turbo Diverter Valves is leaking because, when I get into the boost, I hear a loud whistle on one side and my boost pressure and power are way down.

I have read that the 997 Turbo has the Diverter Valve integrated into the Turbo assembly. It appears that it is a serviceable component bolted directly onto the Turbo.

Has anyone had one of these fail?

Has anyone removed a diverter valve and has some DIY advice.

Mine have not failed but I am replacing them as a precaution with Forge Motorsport diverter valves when my rear bumper is removed to replace my plugs. My understanding is one side is accessible (not sure which side) but the other isn't. Because I plan to reflash my ECU I purchased the metal valves with stronger springs and new plugs.

Thanks for the suggestion. An upgrade seems like a good idea.

According to Murphy's law, I just had the spark plugs done about a month ago. This is the ideal time to do it because they need to remove the turbos - or so I was told.

Stock should be fine but if u wanna go with aftermarket then Forge ftw.

Our cars do not have "diverter valves" The 996 TT had "diverters". The 997 TT's have BRV's (boost relief valves.) You cannot buy the OEM one's separately. They only come with the turbos.. I have never heard of one failing but if it did I would go with one of the good aftermarket brands like EVOMS etc. NOT AGENCY!

Make sure they are greased and installed properly. (Ask me how I know.)

I have the EVOMS on my car. My stock ones are still fine.. I just bought them when I was mod crazy..

You do not need to replace the OEM valves unless you are producing over 700 hp.. It's just a waste of money..

Just got P0299 on my 997.1TT Thoughts on where to start? I was thinking BRV's. I have the car for a month with 78,000 miles. I can feel a surging under hard acceleration. No CEL??

Any thoughts on the P1372 valve lift control bank 1 ?

Both codes are cleared and have not returned I have not driven the car excessively hard since clearing it

jay, you should look at your P1372... Check the solenoid hold down bracket on the cam housing (they crack) Additionally, check for Boost leaks and stuck VNT actuator. You can also look at your bypass valve hose connection and internal diaphragm (look for tear>>rare)

Hey Kevin I will pull the bumper this weekend and have a closer look and at the bracket and read up on boost leaks.
