Default 997 GT2 RS intercoolers in a 2007 997 TT

Hey guys,

What results can I expect to get in my 07 TT if I install 997.2 GT2 RS intercooler?

A very good one. The back to back experiements with the 997.1tt showed around a 18-20 degree celcius improvement in IATs (very important), at least in single runs. (that's around a million degrees fahrenheit!!! )

I personally found the difference quite noticeable. With stock intercoolers, I certainly found the performance awesome in cold weather and disappointing in hot weather. With the new ICs, the performance always seems to be on par with cold weather even when it's warm.

Just so you know, better ICs will generally not "make" more power per se, but they will avoid the intake air (IATs) heating up to such a level where the ECU starts pulling back on timing and boost in order to protect the engine from knock. So better ICs = engine running at it's best.

My gentle foray into tuning of EP1 -> GT2 ICs -> Softronic tune has certainly been slow, but the end result is really very impressive! My understanding is, unless you plan on playing around with bigger turbos, then GT2 ICs are as good as you need to go and a must have mod for $1000 + labour!

Good luck!

^ I would basically second what vik has said.

I personally didn't feel any immediate difference after my install and i was trying hard to feel it, but in all fairness with the EP1 and Proto tune the car feels so electric it is at a level where being able to tell the difference takes more than just a quick blast around the block.

I will say that i have since found that when i have been driving the car harder for sustained periods it does deliver a noticeable feeling that it is pulling stronger in the upper rev range when in a higher gear under sustained high engine/throttle load whereas previously in hotter weather i have found the car not to be as crisp or consistent. So yes i do believe the lower IAT's are doing something in those situations. I feel if you plan a tune the coolers can only help safe guard the engine under sustained sporty high load driving conditions. For the relatively low cost it is a wise move imo. Once you up the boost and fuel, every little thing helps in providing longevity and reliability for the engine.

Leo,
I think you need to slow down and just drive the car stock for awhile. Seems like you are posting about/buying every possible mod in record time. Slow down, take a breath, carefully analyze what you really need for your use and driving style.
It's fun.

+100%. Agree he needs to take it easy, take a deep breath and ease himself into the mod journey. Poor Leo has already wound himself up with an $850 hot air intake firmly wedged between his butt cheeks along with a re badged Jims muffler....

Altho in all fairness maybe the .2tt I/C's will work better shoe horned between the hot intake cones and the y pipe.....JK.

Hey speaking of butt cheeks, nice avatar rotes!

Put your OE airbox back on and you'll have the same net effect as getting those RS intercoolers.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the fs stuff I really like, the airbox isn't one of them.

Hey guys,

The hot Air filter is gone (I bought it before I joined the forum) I was just reading all the crap they want you to read in their website.

I talked to champeon in Fl and they told me That i won't lose the warranty if I change the intercooler for the GT2 RS, since I live in Miami and this town is really hot the I think that would be a really good upgrade.

I know that I just bought my car 2 months ago and I'm making new posts everyday asking a lot of things and that can be very annoying but I really put a lot of effort to get this car and I want it to be the best out there (well in my budget I don't have 40k to spend in performance for my car)

Not annoying at all, it's just that you could get in too deep, too fast if you're not careful and waste a lot of scratch in the process.

Leo realx and enjoy the car before you start modding. I bought a car that was already set up for the most part, although cheaper this way I wish I could have had the car stock to appreciate each mod.

Wait another 30 days, look for used exhaust, then wait 90 days and get a tune, and so on.

We can already say that i wasted $750 for the air filter (it's for sale right now lol)

I just talk to Europipe and they told me the exhaust cost almost $5000 shipped, i think that is crazy and the PORSCHE 911 Turbo luxury TAX is like 80%
