Exclamation Engine out or fixing coolant leaks? Shark Werks SS Coolant Pipes for Turbo/GT2/GT2RS

Hey guys,
Some of you may know of the coolant concerns on these cars, specifically the "GT1 coolant tube leak" problems where the coolant tubes eject from the engine's cast aluminum housings. A lesser known problem is in the plastic coolant elbow tubes running to the two heat exchangers. These tubes crack over time, especially in situations with high mileage cars or track use.

The Turbo and GT2/GT2RS have 3 of these tubes, all slightly different from one another, one being shared with the GT3 engine. These pipes are molded plastic and have a very thin wall where the pipe connects to the engine with an O-ring seal. The problem is that over time and mileage, the thin plastic wall will break down at the o-ring slot (its weakest and thinnest point) causing a crack to appear. Eventually the whole engine will need to be removed in order to replace a cheap plastic tube with a pinhole leak. Both of these issues have been observed on the 997 GT3 and GT3RS as well.

A razor blade showing where the tube is thin, which will crack and leaks:

After a customer spent nearly $2500 replacing this small part due to a coolant leak, costing him two track days and several weeks of downtime, we decided that a permanent solution was necessary and made these stainless steel pipes with CNC billet ends. We believe these should be used in place of the OEM part to avoid the aforementioned costs involved in replacing these leaky tubes ever again.

We recommend replacing these when the engine is removed for service or upgrades, engine builds or coolant leaks. It's also a very good idea to fix the coolant lines we've posted about (http://sharkwerks.com/porsche/techni...urbo-cars.html) while the engine is out.

Tom... He said HIGH MILEAGE cars.. I have a nice F430 16M Scuderia Spyder here in or showroom. Why don't you get that instead? Much more exciting than coolant pipes...

The build quality on these parts is excellent! I just installed these on a customer's car. Its a big job. Engine/Transmission out. Remove the intake manifolds. Also you have to bleed the clutch system when its back in and here are a handful of hoses and seals to do "while its out" in addition to these pipes but the end result is 100% leak free! Hopefully for a long time too.

UPDATE: I know it's winter time and some of you are building/refreshing your engines or doing maintenance. Over the last few weeks some of you have called/emailed requesting our coolant pipe replacements... We do now have some sets ready to ship. If you need some they're here:

Just had this done along with the coolant line fix while the engine was out. Highly recommend if for nothing more than piece of mind.

Thanks Berk and all at DBC for a job well done.

Hopefully you guys have good news for me. Went out to diner with wife and as I opened her door to let her out, smell of coolant was obvious. Checked the car out and here is what I noticed.

This is an absolute must do when the engine is out.

So easy even a chiropractor can do it!
