I'm about to update the steering wheel on my 997.1. I have the complete switchgear (used) to change from a 997.2 to match the wheel. I need this as I have tiptronic and the wheel has the multifunction buttons. It is already programmed for PDK.
Can anyone help with a question about the clockspring. How can I know it is in the correct position? Do I need to turn it manually and count the turns to get it in the middle?

did you change the controller too, looks like you have the multifunction, I'm thinking it may be best just to take the controller off and keep the rest of my switches?

yes I have read that, the issue is the clock spring I have is from a breaker, so I don't know if it was taken off when the steering was straight ahead. I think I'll just change the module and keep the rest of my switches as is, thanks for the help.

That's the safest thing to do or may need a steering angle calibration, Often times the person who removes the part will tape it in place to prevent movement. Be sure to check the tilt/telescope before buttoning things up completely there's a horseshoe harness (like the module) that needs to be clipped on or will cause interference when adjusting the wheel.

Hi guys,
so the only thing that I don’t like about my 997.1 TT is my steering wheel, luckily I found this thread and began my search for a wheel. Well I got what I think is a great deal on the wheel below. I understand I need the 997.2 steering wheel module my question is which airbag I need? Do I need a 997.1 or 997.2?
Thanks!!
edit: I see where a 997.2 bag is required, I guess what I’m trying to figure out is will other updated bags work as there are a bunch on eBay

I have that wheel on a 2011 Cayenne Turbo.
The connectors are color coded, this adds confusion the Macan/991 connectors are yellow and tan, the airbag was yellow and green. everything seems to be working hope I never have to test it.

Hey Guys, so I now have the air bag in order and the steering wheel Has arrived, you guys mentioned getting the control module for 220.00 buck but I have not seen that pricing anywhere. Could someone point me to where they got that price?
thanks!
oh and just to be clear, going from a multi function wheel in s tippy to another multi function wheel I still need the control module correct?
thanks!

I found mine used on EBAY you need 997-613-289-01, mine came from a PDK car with Multifunction so it was just a case of swopping it over. The Porsche price for new is about 400 and you will need it programmed as they are unprogrammed from new, keep looking for that part number!

So I received my airbag today and got right to it. Omg I could not be happier! Changed the whole car, best mod ever.
I do however have to pull it apart again as I thought I’d get lucky and it would work, of course I was not so no functions right now but I’ll swap out control module shortly.

well done, yes its a great improvement, can actually use the tiptronic manually now!
Do your tip buttons work? I also saw on a thread that the horn will not work until you get the later control unit?
I made a mistake and left the cd changer and bose amp programmed in so I have the error on the PCM and I'm loathe to reprogram it now in case I screw up the current programming for the steering wheel controls...... I'm using a foxwell programmer
