I guess depends on what steering wheel? I have a 997.1 and installed a 997.2 Sport Design wheel. I did not update my steering control module and as is, horn did not work. Once programmed as multifunction wheel. Horn worked. My stalk works as well. You're talking about the checking oil level etc right?

Yes, talking about the stalk that lets you see oil level, tire pressure, etc. My wheel is just the basic 997.2 wheel not the newer sport design.

I recently installed a Apple Carplay compatible radio unit, which rendered my multifunction controls on the steering wheel nonfunctional. Worth the trade-off to me, though for the phone integration.

I found a used steering wheel that matched the style of mine (2006 triangular airbag) except w/o multifunction. So, I swapped the steering wheel trim pieces (Porsche calls them covers) and it looks fine, but I get a PSM and PASM error on the instrument panel readout. I'm guessing I need to get it re-coded, from what I am reading here. Any thoughts? I may just put the old trim back on and live with it. Kind of like the cleaner look, though.

Hi all
I have a 2007 with Triangle airbag and multifunction.Tiptronic
Can someone tell me what my options are at this point, dont want to spend thousands on this
looking for something more sporty round airbag, paddles, and overall fatter wheel
Id like to retain multifuction, but not a deal breaker....and is it possible to incorporate a heated wheel?
maybe this wheel?

That one will work with a updated module but you also need an airbag so your better off finding one with it. I had the same wheel in an 09 and just sold it a few weeks back.

The new steering wheel also has no multifunction on the wheel. When they installed the new wheel and programmed the new module. The horn worked on the new wheel but for some reason they couldn’t get my multifunction stalk to work right on the steering column. The lever that you can cycle through to check tire air pressure, error codes etc. Since they couldn’t get that to work, they put the old module back in. The stalk multifunction lever now works but I have no horn.

Is there something we should be doing correctly to get the new module to work with the 997.1 multifunction stalk on the column? Hopefully I’m explaining this right.

you will need the 997.2 steering module (the part number is mentioned in this thread), and then you will need the new 991.2 steering wheel + airbag + gpsadapter.us (with heated option). you will need the proper coding done with the piwisII

EVERYTING will work, horn, paddles heated MF everything.....

Im told that the 997.2 module with heated option is a hard to find part as per gps. Is this true?

Confirmed just had this coded my car with a PIWIS 2 on a 997.1 upgraded to 991 MF wheel, all controls and illumination working. Didn't do a heated wheel not sure it will display on/off on the multi function display used it once on my 958TT.
Anyone interested in a one month old Durametric PRO.
