Default 993 to 997 turbo

I own a nice 96 993 tt stock in excellent condition. I am tempted to trade for a 997. Anyone here made the transition?

Wow, I know how you would be tempted but the 993 has a certain mystique to it. Personally I would keep it and try to raise funds by other means. Almost about to pull the trigger on an 997.2, or wait for the 998! Still looking into getting the 993 in a few years.

I started with a 997tt then added a nicely maintained 993tt later. I try to drive the 993tt everyday. There 993tt has something the 997tt will never be able to replace

My guess is a lot of 997TT owners have 993TT lust - I know I do! 993TT looks are just stunning.

I am too in the process of making this transition.... 993TT to a 997TT... Love my 993 to death, but I don't have the room to keep it around, nor do I feel like storing it in a garage, constantly worrying about it...

Being 6'3" and 250lbs, I fit much better in the 997 as well.

Out of all the 911s the 993 is surely a timeless design. Where as with the 996 I can see aging, if you would!

there is a thread on the 993TT forum someone looking to buy a 993TT fyi. Whatever you do don't get hosed by the dealer on a trade in. If you can have both that would be ideal. 4 years of ownership and my 993TT puts a smile on my face every time. I do have 997TT envy though, things could be worse

The way I look at it, the 993TT is a collector car. I't's been holding it's value for years strictly because of what it is. The 996TT's and the 997TT's will never be what the 993TT is or was, and their values have declined accordingly.

Stick with the 993 no matter what you do. You'll never lose money on that car.

I have had both at the same time and as I would not use either as a DD I kept the 993TT and sold the 997TT. If you are going to use it as a DD the 997tt may make more sense to you especially with warranty.

I would not trade back and no regrets.

I'd understand the urge to trade in the 993 for the 997TT if I had long distances to drive and wanted lots of power and fun ALONG with modern conveniences and comfort. If the purpose of going from 993 to 997 was just for fun I'd keep the 993. That's my two cents, BTW, I've only driven a 993, not a 993 turbo.

I'm thinking of switching my 996 C4S for a 996 TT as a DD. I want the GT1 dry sump engine. However, the 993TT ain't going anywhere.
