“My New Orange 997 Turbo” or “Why rationalization is so important”
X-Posted in 997 Forum.....
Long story short: I am about to take delivery of a beautiful 2009 Orange 997 TT. The long story: Some of you may recall my ‘saga’ surrounding one particular Orange 997 TT. I had a November build spot secured for a turbo. I then specked out what was to be my dream car: an RS Orange turbo with many many options. Many of the options I picked were with the help on various Rennlisters and Team Speeders. So, I submitted those specs and they were accepted by Porsche for a November build. Then the economy collapsed (cue falling bricks) as did my desire to be buying a 150K toy. I called Ira to cancel my order in mid-October and was told that the car had literally just entered pre-production and that there was no way to kill the order. I naturally felt guilty and told them “Sorry” but that I just couldn’t go through with the purchase. So,….the damn thing gets built and of course I had to go out to Ira and see it. I must say that this car truly is a dream car for me and when I saw it, I fell in love. I realize a giant Orange turbo is probably Andy Warhol to some people, but to me this is the perfect Porsche….it is ME. Alfie has returned to Ira Porsche and helped work a deal out that was decent for myself and Porsche. What can I say? Rationalization is a cruel mistress. The car is the same Orange as used on the GT3 RS. It has a black leather interior with Orange deviated stitching on essentially everything! There are a number of interior pieces done in Orange which turned out tres tres tres cool. I opted for a lot of leather bits as well such as the center console, defroster, dome light, visors, thicker st wheel leather etc etc. Performance wise the car has LSD and SCP but no PCCB. I opted for all of the 997.2 electronics such as the iPod, Bluetooth, and XM. I even ordered an Orange iPod Nano inscribed with “Coochas 997 TT.” Yeah,….I’m over the top. I will be trading in my C4S which has been a wonderful car as well as my first Porsche. In many ways I am sad to see my giant yellow hi-liter go away. I hope she goes to a good home. I have not taken any pics yet. The pics below are courtesy of Ira Porsche. I am soooooo excited and can’t wait to take delivery. Congrats to you too Bob !!! Thanks! I saw the same color today and it's very cool!!! I can't wait to hear your description of the difference between the TT and the C4S. |
enjoy your new boost....
I think we need to nickname your car. I propose, "The Screamin Pumpkin" |
Very kewl car, Dave ...
But, the way I drive .. I could never have a car that 'obvious'. I love seeing others with wide rides, tho. Excellent choice, Coochas ! |
Awesome. Grats!

I knew you'd come around. But seriuosly, going to look at the car you specced out, how else could that end?

Maybe I'll change my name to TT Anesthesiologist..... doesn't sound as good. |
Coochas,
Glad to see you got exactly what you wanted - that is why I love to order a new Porsche every few years. It is great to get it just the way you want it, as it is really "your car". Enjoy in good health. JCM |
