Default Tip question

Picked up my new turbo with tiptronic Saturday! What a car... Can you start off in first gear in the automatic mode? If so, how? I will post pics soon!! This 997 turbo is the best Pcar I have ever owned.

use the sport button. Drive it hard and it will down shift to 1st when you come to stop.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a turbo? My girlfriend lives in Pensacola.

When I put the turbo in sports mode it still is in 2nd gear at a stop. Does the ECU remap itself with harder driving?

Yes, it will still start in 2nd gear in sports mode initially, but with a couple of big taps on the throttle it will starts in 1st.

This doesn't sound like standard Porsche dealer (owner) inservice.
Why didn't they teach you the dynamics of the tip when you picked it up, what city is this dealer in?

There are mixed reviews on this trans due to the mapping by Porsche, weird down shifts and slow launches unless you power brake....

It's still faster than the six speed.

So in spite of the fact that everyone here seems to congratulate themsleves on how good they are at shifting they still can't do as good of a job as the "lousy" tip.
