Doug,
Congrats. Mine came in today also. Both were on same boat.
Got it in the garage.
I will post pics on 997 board soon.
Just got back from a cloudy high humidity drive with top down.
Awesome!

Default first impressions

First, the car is just plain awesome, I've been dreaming about a Turbo since I saw my first one in 1977. Now it's mine!
The power is intoxicating as many others have said. I also notice that the engine revs up quicker on heel toe downshifts than the 3.4 996.
The salesguy told me to break it in hard, because of a harder piston ring Porsche uses in the TT and GT3 engines. This comes directly from the PCNA techs supposedly. I have always used the factory recommendations so there must be a happy medium.
The PCM seems rather user unfriendly, it will take some time.
Meteor is a great color, turns very dark in low light conditions. Goes well with the dark Cocoa interior. But what's with the coating they put on the leather?? Some kind of Armor All or something, makes everything slick, smells very "chemical", overpowers everything else. I wished they would not have done that, now I have a headache. That's my only gripe.
The whole purchase experience from the day I ordered to delivery was painless. I also received a very fair trade on my 996. I highly recommend Porsche West Houston, Carlos and Brian are excellent.

Soon as I get mine, I am treating the leather with Leatherique to get the smell right again. Been using it for years in the 993.

It might be the dealer adding that crap onto you car. I asked them not to put anything on my car, heck they didn't even wash it. Mine did not come with any coating on the smell, and in fact the car smells great because of the leather smell. I've also seen them drown the engine bay with some sort of armor all type stuff, it was terrible.

But don't worry about that stuff, just enjoy it!

I'm sure the detail guy slapped something on, it smelled great the other day in PDI, just leather aroma. Oh well, it will wear off. If that's my biggest problem that's great.
