Default prepurchase inspection?

there is a car I am looking at in florida - does anyone know what a PPI costs at champion or braman? can I trust both of them well? exactly what would a PPI cover? are there any hidden things that may not turn up on a PPI that could void the warranty on anything? I am very leery about buying a car used from a non-porsche dealer or private party unless there is an airtight way to make sure there are no major risks - anyone with input?

I would say a ppi is absolutely necessary on such a car. I'm always leary about buying cars from Florida, because so many lease returns from the east coast "rust belt" end up at the Florida Auto Auction. I would run a carfax first and check for history of possibly being driven on salted roads. If all is ok, then have a ppi performed.

PPI in Cali runs about $250 for an NA car. It might be more for a turbo

one good thing is the car only has about two hundred miles on it, but it still could have been over-reved or other possible problems - if it is only a few hundred dollars, that is great

My suggestion: For a 997 if not too many miles get a good body shop to examine it for accident damage and get the read out of over revs from the ECU. Not sure its worth a full PPI as they re fairly knew.

yeah, the over revs were a big worry, but unfortunately I think I did not move fast enough and the car is gone - oh well, the deal seemed a little fishy to me (or was just a phenomenal deal) - they were willing to go 8K below sticker on a car with less than 200 miles on it and no claimed damage or flaws
