Default porsche estimates worldwide sales of 6000 997tt for FY07

found this tidbit on porsche's website in their current fiscal year update (08/06-01/07):

"In the current year of business the Company's successful development is borne out by the two series of sports cars. Sales of the 911 model series alone are expected to reach 36,000 units, among them some 6,000 Turbos. The model mix shows a clear preference in the market for high-priced models." note - their current fiscal year is 08/06-07/07.

north americans buy more turbos (20%+) than the worldwide average of 16.7% . porsche also mentioned that north america sales are down 19.2% in units.

Porsche is really moving the 997TTs. At this run rate there will be approx 3000 MY 07s in North America by Summer

GolfGuy - Is this more than the 996TT launch?

Just curious because the 996TT market became quite soft in the last couple of years - lots of product, discounting, failing values, etc. I rode the curve all the way to current conditions.

I love these cars, but you gotta keep in mind what happens to the value over 3-4 years. This makes a lease seem like a better idea at least to me.

Rick

it's probably the same as MY01 996tt. remember that north america is shrinking as an overall proportion of porsche sales. at last count, NA was 39% of sales ... so apply that logic, my guessimate is around 2,800 for MY07 (ie. 6000*.39 + 256 (6/06 sales) + 192 (7/06 sales)).

i don't have the exact number for MY01 because the monthly sales data don't show the model year. my guestimate for MY01 in north america is about 2,800 based on 1,155 sold in 2000 and 1640 in 2001 (taking 67% of the 2,418 996tt sold in 2001).

(mark twain) disclaimer - "lies, damn lies and statistics"
