It may be 20% but overall, its still a small number. I think Honda sells more Civics in one hour than Porsche sell turbos all year.

The number of TT around all depends on where you lived, I hardly see another here where I lived but I will probably see half a dozen just on the same block if I lived in Beverly Hills or something.
whoopsy

btw, is that an '69 camaro ss with roots blower and dual quads in your avatar? i can't see the car that well ... so that would be my guess.

Thanks for the 9000 number - didn't know that.

Excellent vision on the small avatar! It is a 67 Camaro RS/SS original 396 4spd. I first restored it, got bored, and then went nuts. Put the 396 in my garage and put in a 502 w/roller cam, 8-71 blower, and two big Barry Grant carbs. Stuck a Jerico vertical gate transmission behind it to handle the 700ft-lb or so of torque. It is scary fast. There are better pictures at my "hidden car page" www.assessit.com/Cars.htm

Thanks again

very nice car what a stroke of luck, finding a rare car like that ... and then building it up. do i ever miss the old days when you could do most of the mechanical work yourself.

how about a trade ... your 67 camaro ss and a 69 z28 (hugger orange preferred) for my 997tt?

Thx for the offer - I am going to hang on to my 67 Camaro RS/SS for while. The values are starting to go nuts for these cars and I have all the original parts. Plus I just like looking at

Golfguy, thanks for the info. It would appear that for the time being, we have a semi exclusive club north of the border. Mines an October baby.

"turbo - 1,632 (1,572 cabs)"

Are you saying that 96% of the 1,632 2004 996tt's were cabs? only 60 coupes were delivered all year?

that's correct. don't forget that 996tt had a long production run with availability since early 2000. most people that wanted a 996tt coupe already had one ... so most sales in 2004 were cabs. the same holds true for the 996tts, mostly cabs.

Would that mean that eventually the 04's & 05's might have a better chance of holding their value than earlier models?

Sorry, but with the 997 Turbo already out almost a year and the 08s a few months away, 996 turbo has no chance of keeping any value, it's just a fact of life for owning a Porsche, unlike Ferraris, which tends to hold value much better than any other cars.

totally agree. porsche knows their key to success is to milk its exclusive supercar" mystique. porsche pushes out volume production while maintaining a winning combination of performance, styling, reliability and practicality. the tt is the only supercar that is suitable for daily driving and weekend warrior duty. however, our beloved turbos are great cars but have "semi-exclusive" availability like the z06, cayenne turbo, mbz amg, etc.

the only porsches that will hold its value are the rare limited edition cars with production runs of less than 200 [pick your number] or so like the rsr, 959, gt3 cup grand-am, etc. here's an example of a collectable porsche ... only 12 in existence.
