I will say.......that with significant mods to suspension & other, you can make a 3400 lb 996/997 'Touring' car......'think' it's a sports car.
I'm confused, please define "Sports Car".

Not that I insist the 997 TT be called one, but having owned both, I'm curious what critera could include the 993 but not the 997. To me, there isn't any catagory of performance that the 993 is bettter at. Are you telling me a couple hundred pounds is all it takes?

I would have loved to get a Ford GT...just too flashy for the office parking lot and i doubt it will do me any good in snow!

Yea I don't get why people think the 997 is a GT, just because its competes in the 21st century and has 21st century features.

Lexus 450h... The TT has fallen into the MB/Lexus/Bentley/AM bracket, still like it though.

new tag line: P TT tip, more fun than Lexus, yet pricingly affordable

The Ford GT is hot also. Should have researched more but ran out of time. I will be definetley taking another look here shortly.

A Ford GT owner (a car collector actually with 30+ cars) in describing the car said something like, "1st gear is good for about 60 mph, 2nd is good for about 90 mph, 3rd is good for about 130 mph, WTF are 4th, 5th and 6th for?" He also remarked how it's almost impossible to back it up with out a couple of people outside to help you. From a guy who owns among others 2 Carrera GTs, an Enzo, a ZO6, 427 Cobra and a gaggle of race cars I believe he spoke with some authority. Based on his remarks I wouldn't consider it, even if I could afford it.

Maybe a Gallardo but it was slower, less practical yet costing more.

The 911 Turbo has always been a luxury sports car (GT?), back to the earliest 930. That was a conscious decision by Porsche to include leather and other amenities in their most powerful, flagship car.

The only other car I considered was a GT3 RS, and actually got an allocation, but since using the 996 GT3 as a daily driver, wanted to go back to the turbo.

considered a couple of alternatives.

1. F430 - arrogant ferrari dealer helped me decide otherwise
2. used F360 coupe and used 996tt cab - needed extra garage space
